Five years ago: The space shuttle Discovery landed at Cape Canaveral, Fla., after a historic rendezvous with Russia’s Mir space station.

One year ago: A federal jury in New York found several gun makers responsible in three area shootings for letting guns fall into the hands of criminals; other firms were cleared.
