Hansen Helps Beat Badgers

Boys basketball

Ryan Hansen scored 21 points Saturday night, hitting 9 of 10 free throws, and visiting Lakeland defeated Bonners Ferry 70-57 in the Intermountain League.

Lakeland, with two league games remaining, can finish no worse than second place. The top two earn opening-round byes to the A-2 District I tournament.

Andy Rice had eight rebounds and Scott Solum five blocked shots for the Badgers. BF is tied with Priest River for third place.

Ryan Mann and Luke Smith combined for 27 points as the Wildcats clinched a tie for first place in the Intermountain League with a road win over the Tigers.

A win over St. Maries on Tuesday would clinch first place outright for Kellogg.

Ben Danforth scored a career-high 31, hitting 14 of 18 field goals, and the Eagles picked up a win at Nelson, British Columbia.

FCA trailed by three with 2 minutes left, but took the lead when Charlie Dowers fed Danforth after a steal. Danforth had a steal and free throw on the next play.

FCA also defeated Nelson’s L.V. Rogers on Friday, behind Scott Jackson’s 22 points.

Tim Stevens scored a career-high 23 and added five steals as the foul-plagued Wampus Cats held on for a win in Nelson, British Columbia.

Four Clark Fork players fouled out and every other player had four fouls when the game ended. Clark Fork also defeated Nelson’s Mt. Sentinel on Friday, behind Antoni Changala’s career-high 37 points.
