Ex-Champ Sues Film

In Philadelphia, former middleweight boxing champion Joey Giardello is suing Universal Pictures and others, the makers of “The Hurricane,” saying the movie inaccurately portrayed him as being “relentlessly pummeled” by Rubin “Hurricane” Carter in a 1964 title fight.

Les Keiter, who narrated the real fight, called the movie’s depiction “fictitious and ludicrous.”

Former world champion Terry Norris lost a bid to get a new boxing license after Nevada officials expressed concern about his speech and the possibility he might have brain damage.
