High And Mighty
Chicago no longer has the world’s tallest building, but it soon will be home to the world’s tallest broadcast antenna. The Sears Tower is adding 22 feet to one of its twin digital television broadcast antennae to create the world’s tallest broadcast antenna atop a building at 1,729 feet. The extended antenna, which will be a foot higher than the one atop New York’s World Trade Center, will give the Sears Tower the records for highest antenna, highest roof (1,450 feet) and highest occupied floor (1,431 feet). But bragging rights for the world’s tallest building still belong to the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at 1,483 feet.
