Schweitzer To Host Special Olympics

About 250 athletes from across Idaho are expected to attend the Special Olympics Idaho State Winter Games Feb. 27-29 at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.

Snowshoeing, Nordic and alpine skiing are featured at the games, which kick off with the Opening Ceremonies at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. Sandpoint native Bill Wallace, a Special Olympics Idaho World Summer Games athlete and winner of the prestigious Hero award, will emcee the ceremonies.

Competition and awards are scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 and 29. The Victory Dance and Closing Ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 28.
