Colorado Deal Nearly Settled

Liberty Media agreed to buy Ascent Entertainment for $460 million in a deal that includes the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and an arena.

If the majority of investors and stockholders approve the deal, Liberty plans to turn around and sell the teams and their arena, the Pepsi Center.

Liberty lost a bid to acquire Ascent’s pay-per-view programming services several weeks ago.

Liberty didn’t want to get into the sports business but could only get the programming services by buying the teams as well, he said.
