Comments Sought On Air Quality Permit
The public can comment on an air quality permit for the Bennett Lumber Products Inc. mill in Princeton until March 10. The mill, in operation for roughly a decade, falls under federal requirements that all air pollution sources get a state permit. Officials with the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality have tentatively determined that the mill’s operations won’t violate air quality standards or harm people or the environment, according to an agency notice. The agency wants to issue the company a permit, but the public can request a hearing. The deadline for written requests for a hearing is Friday.
The mill mainly emits particulates - which can irritate respiratory problems - and carbon monoxide, according to the DEQ.
Send comments on the mill’s permit application, including its Docket Number 10AP-2002, to Gary Reinbold, Division of Environmental Quality, 1410 N. Hilton, Boise, ID 83706-1255. For more information, call (208) 373-0253.
