Whirlwind Romance

Stan Huey, 30, feared that the tornado that ruined his southwest Georgia home also blew away his perfect Valentine’s Day with his fiancee, Paige Grogan, 24. He had tucked away a ring in a kitchen cabinet and planned to present it to her in advance of their April 15 wedding. But twisters Feb. 14 destroyed all of Huey’s house near Camilla except a bedroom and the closet where he had taken refuge. Hours later, however, a cousin spotted the ring, still in the box, underneath a water ski in a pond about 100 feet from the wreckage of Huey’s house. “We’re just thankful that he’s alive,” Grogan said.
