New faces:

Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. has named Michael A. Steeves as director of investor relations. Steeves has more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry, and has been an investor relations professional for the past 10 years. Earlier, he worked as a senior mining analyst for several Canadian-based investment firms. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology from the University of Manitoba and is a chartered financial analyst.

LineSoft Corp. has added the following people to its staff:

Karen Adams was hired as a drafter. She assists company engineers with AutoCad 2000 support for transmission line design for utilities nationwide. Adams, who previously worked for EZ Loader Boat Trailers, earned a degree in architectural technology from Spokane Community College.

Teresa Adams joined LineSoft as an engineer/programmer with responsibility for developing and maintaining software program components that perform structural analysis for transmission and distribution design. Adams has engineering and computer software development experience with other local businesses. She earned a degree in engineering from Gonzaga University.

Laura Brazee is a payroll accountant. She previously worked for CXT Inc. and Itron Inc. Brazee studied at Missoula Tech, Kinman Business University and the Community Colleges of Spokane, and is a member of the American Payroll Association.

Terry Conkright joined LineSoft as a software engineer responsible for the design and development of the company’s design software for multinational power transmission and distribution companies. Conkright most recently was vice president of RightLand Technologies Corp. Earlier, he was a senior developer for Software Engineering and Fabrication. He received a degree in chemistry, mathematics and physics from the University of Colorado and advanced degrees from the University of Southern California and Eastern Washington University.

Steven Cowart was hired as major accounts sales executive with responsibility for the company’s sales efforts on major accounts nationwide. Cowart has extensive experience in applications software sales and has spent more than 20 years in utility industry distribution and transmission line construction and design.

Tom Hunt joined LineSoft as managing director supervising administrative operations, including human resources, facilities and finance. Hunt previously was vice president of WM Shareholder Services, the mutual fund operations subsidiary of Washington Mutual Bank, where he was responsible for retirement operations and cash management. He is a 1981 graduate in finance from Washington State University.

Charmaine Landon was named administrative assistant. She will support the marketing organization and administrative services. Landon, who is a graduate of Spokane Falls Community College, previously worked for Eastern Washington University and Caelus Inc.

Kris Stephens was hired as a project engineer working throughout the southeastern United States. He consults on transmission and distribution line design projects from LineSoft’s Atlanta office. Stephens earned an engineering degree at Auburn University and has 13 years of utility experience with Georgia Power.

Jo Ann Workland Stanley is LineSoft’s marketing communications project manager. She oversees the company’s sales and marketing contract system, planning company events and trade shows and facilitating direct marketing activities. Stanley, who earned business degrees at Spokane Community College, has 15 years of sales and marketing experience at ISC Systems Corp./Olivetti North America.

Kelley Wilcox has been named the new full-time administrative assistant for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Spokane. Wilcox, who earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Eastern Washington University, formerly worked for the KXLY Broadcast Group as an event coordinator and at Oldies 101.1.

Moving up:

Karen Everitt has been promoted to manager of human resource information systems and group benefits for Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. Everitt, who has more than 19 years of experience with the company, will be responsible for human resource system operation, training and security. She also is responsible for all benefit plan selection, operation, compliance and customer service.

Appointed:

Gov. Gary Locke has appointed Dr. Richard Ryan, a partner at Northside Vision Center of Spokane, to the Washington State Optometry Board. His term continues until Sept. 19, 2002. As a board member, Ryan will participate in evaluating and licensing optometric physicians in Washington and join in determining corrective actions when necessary. Ryan, who received his professional training at Pacific University College of Optometry, is an adjunct faculty member and medical director of the vision care technology program at Spokane Community College.

Kudos:

Forster Ndubisi, director of the Interdisciplinary Design Institute at WSU Spokane and a professor of landscape architecture, has received the 1999 First Prize for Research from the American Society of Landscape Architects for his work, “Approaches to Ecological Planning: A Historical and Comparative Synthesis.” His book of the same title will be published by Johns Hopkins University Press this year. Ndubisi joined the design institute in April 1997.
