Groth Brothers Score 63 In Win

Jeremy Groth became Washington state’s No. 2 all-time scorer by hitting 20 of 20 free throws and scoring 41 to ignite the Curlew Cougars to a 82-74 win over the Ritzville Broncos in a Northeast B basketball seeding game Saturday.

Groth’s career total of 2,334 points trails only current Eastern Washington University player Ryan Hansen, who scored 2,411 for Cascade (Leavenworth) from 1993-97.

Groth hit 8 of 14 from the floor, including 5 of 9 3-pointers. Brother Craig Groth hit six 3-pointers and scored 22. Ritzville’s Josh Whitman totaled 14 rebounds and 33 points, hitting 13 of 29 field goals.
