Obituaries

Clifton Wright Spokane

Service for Clifton Earl Wright will be at 1 p.m. today at the Worley (Idaho) Community Church. Burial will follow at the Worley Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Linneus, Mo., Mr. Wright died Sunday. He was 89.

His family moved to Worley in 1922, and he graduated from Worley High School.

He worked as a logger and farmer in the Worley area.

During the 1950s and 1960s he served on the board of directors for the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Rockford, Spokane Chapter of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Rockford Grain Growers.

Mr. Wright moved to Spokane three years ago.

His wife of 54 years, Helen, died in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Gary Wright of Spokane; three daughters, Carol Grigger of Spokane, Delaine Lewis of Post Falls and Janice Pico of Pearce, Ariz.; a brother, Ben Wright of Elk; two sisters, Eva Mellick of Worley and Della McAvoy of Ellensburg; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Worley Ambulance Fund, Worley, ID 83876.

Ida Thompson Spokane

Service for Ida Thompson, 85, will be today at 2 p.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery.

Miss Thompson, who was born near Blaine, Idaho, died Friday.

She grew up and attended schools in Blaine and Cornwall, Idaho, before graduating from Moscow High School. She lived on the family farm in the Blaine area for many years.

Miss Thompson moved to Moscow and worked at various local restaurants. She also served as a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center while raising her niece, Marjorie.

She lived in Moscow for more than 35 years before moving to Spokane. She attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Moscow.

Survivors include a sister, Inga McLean of Spokane; her niece, Marjorie Simpson of Loon Lake, Wash.; and a nephew, Robert McLean of Spokane.

Hilda Kulzer Spokane

Funeral Mass for Hilda C. (Thomas) Kulzer, 99, will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Jump Off Joe (Wash.) Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kulzer, who was born in Northern Wyoming, died Thursday.

Her family moved to Moscow, Idaho, when she was a child.

After graduating from the University of Idaho in 1922, she moved to Valley, Wash., where she taught English at the high school.

She married Sidney Kulzer in 1924. He died in 1987.

Mrs. Kulzer moved to Spokane in 1990.

She was a member of Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church and Altar Society in Valley.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Peterson and Joan Miller, both of Spokane; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morning Star Boy’s Ranch.

Junior Eastin Sandpoint

Memorial service for Junior Dwayne Eastin, 63, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Sandpoint Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Eastin, who was born in Colorado, died Tuesday.

He grew up in Wyoming and in 1952 moved to Sandpoint. In 1953 he married Geraldine Carnagie.

Mr. Eastin served with the Army during the Korean War, and had attended air conditioning repair school.

He returned to Sandpoint after his military service and worked as a mechanic at Paul’s Chevron. He had also worked at the Gas and Go before retiring in 1989 due to health reasons.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gerri; five children, Dennis Eastin, Diane Hankey and Donna Eastin, all of Sandpoint, Mary Bush of Cocolalla, Idaho, and Debbie Douglas of Emmett, Idaho; a brother, Del Eastin of Wyoming; a sister, Joyce Bourgeois of Pinehurst, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Virginia Hart Post Falls

Memorial service for Virginia E. Hart, 74, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hart, who was born in South Dakota, died Wednesday.

She moved to the Post Falls area in 1942 and married Shirley Hart in 1944.

Mrs. Hart had worked as a clerk at the Post Falls Post Office from 1967 to 1984. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Michael Hart of Post Falls; a brother, Leslie Mirriam of Post Falls; and two grandchildren, Melissa and Richard.

Martha Hegbloom Silverton, Idaho

Service for Martha Elizabeth Hegbloom, 82, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Mullan, Idaho. Burial will be at Mountainview Cemetery in Mullan. Shoshone Funeral Service in Wallace is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hegbloom, who was born in Ironwood, Mich., died Wednesday.

She moved to the Silver Valley in 1948 from Michigan and was a homemaker. She had also worked at the Samuels Hotel in Wallace for several years.

Survivors include three children, Jerry Hegbloom, Carol Murray and Judy Richardson, all of Mullan; a sister, Helmi Pieti of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Mullan.

Anastasia Rogalski Moscow, Idaho

Rosary for Anastasia Rogalski, 94, will be today at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Moscow with funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Moscow Catholic Cemetery. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rogalski, who was born near Warsaw, Poland, died Tuesday.

She grew up in Poland and later attended college in Warsaw before marrying George Rogalski.

The couple moved to Moscow in 1950, and she was a homemaker. She was member of the St. Mary’s Parish and the Catholic Women’s League.

Her husband died in 1954.

Survivors include four sons, John and Anthony Rogalski, both of Moscow, Peter Rogalski of Pullman and George Rogalski of Spokane; two daughters, Theresa Kielbon of Spokane and Helina Friis of Seattle; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Hentershee Sandpoint

Memorial service for Myrtle Louise Hentershee, 87, will be held at a later date. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hentershee, who was born in Taunton, Mass., died Dec. 31.

She moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19 and married Ed Hentershee. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hentershee visited Hope, Idaho, for 22 summers and helped manage the Island View R.V. Resort there before moving to Sandpoint six years ago.

She had lived at the Franciscan Health Care Center and Life Care Nursing Home.

She was a member of a missionary society in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Hentershee was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include two daughters, Marjory Carlson of Sandpoint and Diane Weiskerger of Los Angeles; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

John Carr Spokane

No service will be held for John William Carr, 87. Private inurnment will be at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Otis Orchards. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Carrington, N.D., Mr. Carr died Monday.

He moved to Spokane in 1943, and was a steelworker for 30 years. He retired in 1976.

He was a member of the Steelworkers Union Local 338 and the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Thelma; a son, Jerry Carr of Greenacres; two daughters, Jorene Primmer of Spokane and Cathy Richardson of Greenacres; two sisters, Ida Bartholomew of Mead and Peggy Bell of Priest River, Idaho; and four grandchildren.

Fritz Albicker Spokane

No service will be held for Fritz A. Albicker, 74, at his request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

An 18-year Spokane resident, Mr. Albicker died Saturday. He was born in Basel, Switzerland.

He owned the Strawberry County Restaurant in Portsmounth, N.H., and managed the Ritz Carlton in Boston.

There are no survivors.

George Touros Coeur d’Alene

Service for George H. Touros, 72, will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Orthodox Church, 4750 E. 20th Ave., Post Falls.

Mr. Touros, who was born in Chicago, died Tuesday.

He lived in California and married Shirley Snider in 1971 He had worked as an electronic technician in the aerospace industry and was also an audio visual technician for students at Cal State before retiring in 1993.

Mr. Touros visited North Idaho regularly for the past 10 years before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1998.

He was a member of St. John’s Orthodox Church.

Survivors include his wife; a stepson, David Snider of Fountain Valley, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Terrell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.

Kenneth Hodgson Mesa, Ariz.

Service for Kenneth Howard Hodgson, 90, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Hodgson, who was born in North Carolina, died Tuesday.

He joined the Army Air Corp after graduating from high school and served as a pilot during World War II.

Mr. Hodgson moved to Coeur d’Alene and married Betty George in 1954. He had worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways for 37 years.

His wife Betty in 1979 and he married Lee Larsen in 1983. They later moved to Mesa, Ariz.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Hodgson of Hesperia, Calif.; a daughter, Jeanette Rupert of Kennewick; a brother, Worth Hodgson of Clarkston, Wash.; a sister, Maude Tapper of Utah; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lester Olson Mount Hope

Graveside service for Lester Olson, 79, was held Wednesday at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield was in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Mount Hope resident, Mr. Olson died Saturday.

He graduated from Rockford High School in 1938 and was a farmer in the Mount Hope area.

He was a charter member of the Rockford Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Elda; two sons, Jon Olson of Fairfield and Jeff Olson of Moscow, Idaho; a brother, Edward Olson of Fairfield; and two grandchildren.

Eloise Gearhart Spokane

Service for Eloise C. Gearhart, 91, will be at 4 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Gearhart, who was born in Lewiston, died Tuesday.

She was an 80-year Spokane resident.

She was a homemaker and a member of Glad Tidings Church Her husband of 36 years, Harry, died in 1968.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Grieb of Spokane; two sisters, Elinor Christopherson of Spokane and Lucille Tate of Pullman; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
