Man Wins $10,000 On Internet

A Spokane Valley man won $10,000 by surfing the Internet.

Peter Dale, 28, found out last week he was a daily winner of iwon.com, an Internet site that uses cash giveaways to get hits.

Dale, a computer consultant and part-time student at Spokane Falls Community College, said it’s the first time he’s ever won a large sum of money.

Dale discovered the site through television ads two months ago. He uses the site primarily as a search engine and as his home page.

The site, iwon.com, is an Internet portal. Registered users can use it as a starting point for Internet searches as well as buying things online.

Each click on the site automatically awards the Web surfer up to 100 daily points, which are then entered into a cash drawing, said Jon Brod, the vice president of marketing for iwon.com.

Brod would not say how many people use the site every day or what the odds are of winning a daily, monthly or yearly prize.

The site started Oct. 5 and has been incredibly successful, Brod said.

The company sees the $10,000 daily giveaway, $1 million monthly giveaway and $10 million yearly giveaway as a marketing cost.

After paying some bills, Dale and his wife, Kristen, plan to spend the money on something memorable.

Vacation books sit on the desk of his study.

“We want to be careful with it because we might not win 10 grand again and we want to spend it right,” Dale said.

Dale is considering taking the family, which includes two daughters, Kara, 4, and Megan, 2, on a Disney cruise.

Dale will have to wait up to 30 days to get the money from iwon.com. But he’s pretty sure that the CBS-owned company will pay out.

More and more people are signing up for the site every day. So Dale thinks his head start might give him a chance at the monthly or yearly prize.

Even if it doesn’t, Dale said $10,000 seems like the perfect amount of money right now.

“$10,000 doesn’t change your life,” he said. “It helps your life, but it doesn’t change it.”
