Rite Aid Corp., the nation’s No. 3 drugstore chain, has formed an operating region for its West Coast stores in an attempt to clean its slate and put a troubled year behind it. The move by the Camp Hill, Pa.-based company reverses an earlier plan by its former management to sell up to 350 of its about 1,000 West Coast stores.
U S West failed to meet service standards in Colorado and must refund about $12.9 million in payments to its customers, the state Public Utilities Commission ruled Friday. U S West customers from around the state complained the company failed to meet standards such as providing new basic phone service within 150 working days of an initial customer order and repairing most broken equipment within 24 hours.
