Hunter’S Sign-Up

Hunter education

Youngsters with a serious notion to start hunting this spring or next fall should take aim this winter on completing their hunter education requirements.

Idaho and Washington both require youths to complete a certified course before they are eligible to buy a hunting license.

The first wave of courses already has been filled in Idaho. But a few spaces might still be available for courses set to begin in Coeur d’Alene in February.

If you can’t get in, mark March 7 on your calendar. That’s the day registration will be taken for the next wave of courses.

Call the Idaho Fish and Game Department’s Coeur d’Alene office, (208) 769-1414 to see if any openings remain.

However, participants will be required to come personally to the office at 2750 Kathleen Avenue in order to pay the $8 pre-registration fee and present Social Security numbers.

In Spokane, a list of instructors organizing hunting courses is available from the Washington Fish and Wildlife Department, 456-4082.
