Cheney Comeback Produces Win

Cheney’s comeback kids were at it again Friday night. Jaden Callahan scored eight points in the fourth quarter to help the visiting Blackhawks erase an eight-point deficit and defeat Clarkston 55-49 in the Border League.

Cheney also defeated Post Falls Tuesday night despite trailing 18-2 after one quarter.

Clarkston led 45-37 with 6-1/2 minutes left Friday, but had eight turnovers down the stretch. Cheney scored 18 of the final 22 points.

Ellen Shaw hit a school-record six 3-pointers, three in the fourth quarter, as the Indians beat the visiting Eagles.

Katie Fondell added eight rebounds and Alyssa Meinhold five assists for Colville. WV’s Amanda Holstrom had six rebounds.

Coeur d’Alene 45, Lake City 41

The Vikings hit 6 of 6 free throws in the final 24 seconds to hold off the Timberwolves.

Senior Patti Stranger hit four of the free throws, the first on a bank shot for a two-point lead.

Coeur d’Alene just couldn’t shake its crosstown rival. Every time the Vikings would open a lead, the T-Wolves would claw back.

“It was a great game,” Stanger said.
