Tom Lippold scored a season-high 14 points to lead San Diego’s 83-56 victory over visiting Portland. The Toreros limited Portland to six baskets in the first half, including a stretch of 10:42 when the Pilots scored on just three free throws. A 26-5 run helped San Diego build a 41-16 halftime lead. The Pilots went without a field goal from 11:03 until the final 21 seconds.

Ross Land scored 24 points and Dan McClintock added 18 in Northern Arizona’s 85-72 victory over Montana at Flagstaff, Ariz… . At Pocatello, Idaho, Ime Udoka broke free of a tight Idaho State defense in the second half to score 19 of his 24 points and lead Portland State to an 84-70 victory. ISU was led by Kevin Sweetwyne with 18 points… . Andre Larry had 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots to lead Cal State Northridge’s 73-63 victory over Montana State at Los Angeles. Hewitt Rolle added 16 points for the Matadors, who held the Bobcats to 34 percent shooting and committed only nine turnovers.

At San Luis Obispo, Calif., a put-back by David Henry with 8.8 seconds left gave Cal Poly San Luis Obispo a 71-70 win against Nevada, snapping the Mustangs’ seven-game losing streak. Nevada led 58-49 with 11:43 to go, but Cal Poly SLO went on an 11-0 run, beginning with Chris Bjorklund’s three-point play. Bjorklund finished with 23 points. Terrance Green, who scored 32 points, gave the Wolf Pack a 70-69 lead with 22 seconds left, but Henry picked up a rebound off a miss by Bjorklund… . At Santa Barbara, Calif., Tony Brown and Shawn Daniels scored 14 points each to lead visiting Utah State’s 61-57 victory over UC Santa Barbara… . Kenroy Jarrett’s 17-foot jumper in the final second gave Cal State Fullerton a 54-52 home win over Boise State.
