Woodard Helps Coach Move Up

Ben Woodard scored 11 of his 20 points in the third quarter Thursday night to help Cheney coach Denny Humphrey attain a significant win.

Woodard hit 9 of 10 field goals and combined with Seth Laughlin for 14 rebounds to guide Cheney’s 57-35 win over visiting Lewiston in the Border League.

Humphrey’s career win No. 522 moved him into fifth place on the state of Washington’s all-time list. Humphrey had been tied with former Lynden and Central Kitsap coach Jake Mayberry.

The other active coach among the top five, Centralia’s Ron Brown, is 10 wins ahead of Humphrey.
