Fred Danker Spokane
No service will be held for Fred W. Danker, 78, at his request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Danker died Sunday.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and served in the Army during World War II as a sergeant.
Mr. Danker was a sales representative and a power-tool specialist for Jensen-Byrd Hardware for 34 years.
He was a member of the Over the Hill Gang at Liberty Lake Golf Course and the Lewiston Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; a son, Fred Danker Jr.; two daughters, Sherry Collins of Spokane and Merri Douglas of Portland; two stepsons, Alan Fischer of Spokane and Jim Fischer of Los Gatos, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Amy Hagins of Spokane; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
Rose Anna Las Vegas
Service for Rose Anna, 48, will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Spokane. Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ritzville (Wash.) Cemetery. Hites Funeral Home in Henderson, Nev., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Anna, who was born in Madera, Calif., died July 1. She was a former 15-year Spokane resident.
She was a theater actress and a dancer, and had been involved with children’s theater.
Mrs. Anna moved to Las Vegas in 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorinda Morales; a son, Omar Dedic of Las Vegas; her mother, Mary Quintero of Spokane; four sisters, Teresa Waite of Spokane, Irene Quintero of Modesto, Calif., and Dianna Quintero and Sylvia Ramirez, both of San Jose, Calif.; and two brothers, David Quintero of Spokane and Randy Quintero of Post Falls.
Roberta Garrison Spokane
Service for Roberta Garrison will be at 1 p.m. today at Mission Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Garrison, 101, died Monday. She was born in Boise and was a 49-year Spokane resident.
She was a cook for the Brotherhood of Friends, and schools in Davenport and Spokane for a short time. She later was a homemaker.
Mrs. Garrison was a member of Mission Community Presbyterian Church and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Her husband, Roscoe, died in 1979.
She is survived by a sister, Lillian Obde of Spokane.
Ellsworth Miller Spokane
Graveside service for Ellsworth Harry Miller, 83, will be at 1 p.m. today at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miller, who died July 6, was born in McKeesport, Pa.
He was a 48-year Spokane resident and worked as a carpenter.
His wife of 61 years, Nina, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan LeBourhis; a sister, Evelyn Allison; two brothers, Eugene and Dwayne Miller; and three grandchildren.
Nell Young Springfield, Ore.
Memorial service for Nell B. Young, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Spokane. Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Young, who was born in Rogers, Ark., died June 18. She was a former 28-year Spokane resident.
She graduated at age 16 from the University of Arkansas, where she majored in French. She later married Hersey Young in 1946.
Mrs. Young was a pianist, ballet and ballroom dancer and taught yoga classes. She was also a pilot who soloed twice, and she danced professionally in New York City.
She moved to Springfield in April.
Mrs. Young was a member of the Phi Beta Pi sorority, Bridge Club, Garden Club, St. John’s Cathedral, The Fireside Group and the Guild, all in Spokane.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Stephanie Christensen of Walterville, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
Eleanor Willsey Garfield, Wash.
Service for Eleanor B. Willsey, 69, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Community Church in Garfield. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date at Garfield Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Potlatch, Idaho, Mrs. Willsey died Wednesday.
She graduated from Garfield High School and married John Elder in 1949. They lived in Garfield and later divorced.
Mrs. Willsey was a homemaker and worked part-time as a librarian at the Garfield Public Library. She also worked in child-care in the Garfield community. She worked at J.E. Love Co. in Garfield for a few years and then did clerical work for Washington State University and Washington Water Power Co.
In 1983 she married Bob Willsey. They later divorced.
She moved to New York City in 1989, where she was a nanny, maid and personal caregiver. She later moved to Bellevue, Wash., and was a personal caregiver there until 1996, when she returned to Garfield.
Mrs. Willsey was a member of Garfield Community Church and the New York Times Square Church.
Survivors include four sons, Mike Elder of Spokane, Patrick Elder of Garfield, Monte Elder of Palouse and Brett Elder of Federal Way, Wash.; a daughter, Denise Huber of Colfax, Wash.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Sister Mary Spatafore, OSF Tacoma, Wash.
Prayer service for Sister Mary Spatafore, formerly known as Sister Dorina, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Ann Convent in Tacoma. Service is planned for 11 a.m. at the convent. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in Tacoma. Gaffney Cassedy and Allen Funeral Home in Tacoma is in charge of arrangements.
Sister Spatafore, 90, died Tuesday. She was born in Tacoma.
She was a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 69 years. She entered the congregation in 1929.
Sister Spatafore received a bachelor’s degree in education from Holy Names College in Spokane in 1945 and a master’s degree in education from Seattle University in 1961.
She ministered in education in Oregon and Washington, including St. Joseph’s Academy in Pendleton, St. Francis Academy in Baker, Ore., St. Patrick’s School in Portland and St. James School in McMinnville, Ore. She also served as archdiocesan supervisor in Portland from 1960 to 1963.
In Washington she taught at Mount St. Joseph Academy in Tekoa, Wash., at St. Leo School and St. Charles School in Tacoma and at Personal Growth Center in Spokane from 1983 to 1995. She moved to St. Ann Convent in 1996.
She is survived by two sisters, Lucy Spatafore and Seraphine Pentimonti, and one brother, Joseph Spatafore, all of Tacoma.

Mary (Hough) Moe Spokane
Vigil service for Mary (Hough) Moe will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church. Memorial Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in LaCrosse, Wis., Mrs. Moe died Tuesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was 49.
She was a 36-year Spokane resident and worked as a food server.
Survivors include her mother, Carol Hough of Spokane; and four brothers, Jim, Pat and Tom Hough, all of Spokane, and John Hough of Bainbridge Island, Wash.
Harold Nelson Spokane
Memorial service for Harold L. Nelson, 88, was Thursday at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment was at Orchard Prairie Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday.
He was a farmer and raised race horses. He was the oldest member of the Orchard Prairie Grange.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie; her son, Johnathan Schock, and her daughters, Amy Sitkoski and Angela Schock, all of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Helen Schrader Albion, Wash.
Memorial service for Helen Ruth Schrader, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Albion Community Church. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash. is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schrader, who was born and raised in Strawberry Point, Iowa, died Tuesday.
She graduated from high school in Strawberry Point and later received teaching certificate from Northern Iowa State Teacher’s College.
In 1947 she moved to Pullman and taught kindergarten and first grade until she married Harold Mooney. She then ran a pre-school and nursery school at Pullman Presbyterian Church from 1964 to 1968.
In 1968 she married David Schrader and moved the pre-school into her home. She taught classes until retiring in 1987.
Mrs. Schrader and her husband moved to Albion in 1977.
She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and the Albion Midway Club. She also was a leader for a water aerobics class in Colfax and a volunteer at a daycare center in Pullman.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Patrick Mooney of Middleton, Idaho, Dennis Mooney of Meridian, Idaho, and Shawn Mooney of Auburn, Wash.; a daughter, Kim Thompson of King Hill, Idaho; a sister, Wilma Regan of Oakesdale, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
Richard Struchen Portland
Memorial service for Richard Allen Struchen, 70, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Minnehaha Park in Spokane. A reception will follow. Wilhelm Funeral Home in Portland is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Struchen, who died March 30, was born in Lombard, Ill.
He served in the Navy and in 1956 married Dorene Richardson.
Mr. Struchen was a collar operator and printer for Superior Business Forms in Spokane for more than 20 years. He moved to Portland in 1981 and worked for Wright Business Graphics until retiring in 1995.
His wife died in 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Fairburn; a son, Larry Struchen; a sister, Alyce Gerow; and three grandchildren.
Joseph Stevens Jr. Moses Lake
Private service for Joseph Ivy Stevens Jr., 62, will be held. The Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stevens, who was born in Hobbs, N.M., died Sunday. He was a 15-year Moses Lake resident.
He moved to Bridgeport, Wash., in 1948, and served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1956 to 1962.
Mr. Stevens married Gail May in 1991.
He was a furniture craftsman and finish carpenter, and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
His wife died in 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Lewis of Omak, Wash., and Shana Harvey of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepson, Wade Polgase of Moses Lake; a stepdaughter, Barbara Polgase of Wenatchee; a sister, Fern Brandt of Hunters, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

James Ekins Spokane
Memorial service for James “Jim” Ekins, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mr. Ekins, who was born in Morton, Idaho, died Wednesday.
He graduated in 1941 from North Central High School and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Ekins worked as a mechanic and service manager in the heavy trucking industry and retired in 1984.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Freda; a son, Michael Ekins; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Salvation Army.
Harold Carlson Hayden, Idaho
An open house in memory of Harold P. Carlson, 88, will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at his daughter’s home at 165 Dart St., in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carlson, who was born in North Dakota, died Saturday.
He married Sigrid Hansen in 1936 and they lived in Montana until settling in the Hayden area in 1952.
Mr. Carlson worked for Northwest Timber and for the Potlatch Corp until retiring in 1973. He was active in metal detecting.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pat Gant of Post Falls and Joan Wilson of Spokane; a sister, Eleanor Turner of California; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pearl Ziehnert Deer Park
Service for Pearl M. Ziehnert, 79, was Tuesday at Peaceful Valley Church in Elk. Burial followed at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park.
Mrs. Ziehnert, who was born in Daisy, Okla., died July 7.
She moved to Deer Park as an infant, and attended schools there.
In 1944 she married Hans Ziehnert. They lived in Elk where they owned and operated a dairy farm. They later moved to Deer Park.
Mrs. Ziehnert was a member of the Church of the Wildwood Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Richard and Bert Ziehnert, both of Elk, and Lyle Ziehnert of Deer Park; a daughter, Viola Christoph of Elk; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Lyla Hedberg Spokane
Graveside service for Lyla E. Hedberg, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Hedberg, who was born in Monroe City, Mo., died Sunday.
She was a 91-year Spokane resident and was a member of North Hill Christian Church.
There are no surviving family members.
