Gordon Crow’s commentary in last Saturday’s Handle Extra, “North Idaho’s unjust image needs to be reversed,” seems to have sparked the interest of readers.
Here are some of the comments we received, through the newspaper’s online edition:
“Come on Idaho, move ahead and let people know that the people of Idaho are great to be near and with. Let everyone know that Idaho isn’t filled with a bunch of mugs who aren’t intelligent enough to realize that we all contribute something to each others’ lives. That you don’t hate someone for just the sake of hating. We are all on this earth for a reason and each of us is as important as the next one.”
“Gordon, You are unbelievable!
“You refer to the Nazis’ murders, attempted murders, federal felonies and the like as `juvenile antics’ and `inane antics.’ You are extremely dangerous.
“ While the Nazis are the scum of the earth, many of them are dedicated, resourceful and deadly serious. How dare you refer to their very serious race war against me as an `antic?’ North Idaho deserves its image.
“ Violent racists flock there for the same reason homosexuals move to San Francisco - it is where they are accepted, feel safe, and can call `home.’ By the way, there are way more than a `handful’ of racists. Multiply that number by 10 and try again.
“ You minimize, trivialize, and disguise the facts. North Idaho gives North Idaho a bad image. Your `work’ guarantees and ensures the racists will continue to flock to and flourish in North Idaho.
“ The racists are laughing themselves silly and thinking what a good decision they made to move to North Idaho.”
“I suspect that the condition of North Idaho’s `image’ is of far more concern to business and commerce here than it is to the average North Idaho individual.
The Aryans are a quaint side show which owe a large measure of their notoriety to the media’s thirst for the bizarre and grotesque, but like any side show they are soon forgotten by those who have more pressing concerns in their lives than putting on their best bib and tucker for an hour’s visit from Aunt Tillie.”
