Netivation.Com Is Suing Yahoo
Netivation.com is suing Yahoo Inc. for alleged breach of contract.
The Post Falls company said Yahoo, a leading Internet portal, failed to honor an agreement that gave Netivation exclusive use of certain political terms and candidate names.
Netivation paid Yahoo $1.9million in February for keywords on the Yahoo network, according to the suit filed in 1st District Court.
When a Web user searched the Yahoo system for those words, the resulting listings would display a banner ad for Netivation’s public policy subsidiary, Votenet, the suit said.
The suit claims Yahoo later told Netivation it couldn’t give the company exclusive use and ownership rights to the keywords. Netivation is seeking damages in an amount to be determined at trial.
Yahoo officials could not be reached for comment Friday.
