Suspect In Stabbing Booked For Assault

A 15-year-old boy suspected of stabbing a man in the stomach with a knife Saturday night was booked into juvenile detention Sunday on a charge of first-degree assault.

The victim, 41, underwent surgery and is in satisfactory condition. Authorities did not release his identity or provide any information about a possible motive for the assault.

Police were called to the 1700 block of East Dalton about 8 p.m. Saturday, where medics were treating the stabbing victim. They found the suspect on a bicycle in the 1700 block of North Lacey. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police found the knife near the intersection of Cleveland and Stone and are having it checked for fingerprints.
