James `Leo’ McCaffery Creston, Wash.
Funeral Mass for James L. “Leo” McCaffery, 80, will be at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Creston. Vault burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane. Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McCaffery, who was born in Sprague, Wash., died Tuesday.
He graduated from Davenport (Wash.) High School.
Mr. McCaffery worked for the Lincoln County road crew until he volunteered for the Army during World War II.
He later worked for the Lincoln County engineers and the treasurer’s office and as a deputy sheriff. He had also held the position of sheriff.
Mr. McCaffery spent the past 20 years on the Rosman farm in Creston.
Survivors include two brothers, Gerald McCaffery of Ritzville, Wash., and Robert McCaffery of Anacortes, Wash.; and three sisters, Eva Spilker of Medical Lake, Dorothy Rosman of Creston and Ilene Hein of Davenport.

Frances Vaillancourt Spokane
Visitation for Frances Lynn Vaillancourt, 90, will be at 4 p.m. today followed by a vigil service at 5 p.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Vaillancourt died Wednesday. She was born in Dumbarton, Scotland.
Mrs. Vaillancourt and her family lived in California until moving to Rathdrum, Idaho, in 1973. They moved to Spokane in 1988.
She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and the Catholic Daughters.
Her husband of 58 years, Edward, died in 1994.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin and Ted Vaillancourt, both of Spokane, and Brian Vaillancourt of Post Falls; two daughters, Julie Jacobs and Anne Vaillancourt, both of Spokane; a sister, Mary Taylor of Detroit; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Clifford Cook Endicott, Wash.
Memorial service for Clifford Cook, 45, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cook, who died Tuesday, was born in Colfax.
He graduated in 1973 from Endicott High School. He later received a mechanics degree from Spokane Community College.
Mr. Cook worked for his parents at their service station in Endicott. The station was sold to St. John Grange Supply in 1988. He went to work for the city of Endicott about a year ago.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a first responder with the Endicott Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Judy; two sons, Timothy Cook of Palouse, Wash., and Jeremy Cook of Laramie, Wyo.; two daughters, Emily and Courtney Cook, both of Endicott; his parents, Roland and Lorraine Cook of Endicott; a sister, Carol Larson of Endicott; and a granddaughter.

Thomas Crane Spokane
Private family gathering for Thomas James Crane, 48, will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Great Falls, Mont., Mr. Crane died Sunday.
His family moved to Spokane when he was a child.
He married Miong Suk in 1997.
Mr. Crane had recently worked as a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Travis, Carl and Bryan Crane, all of Spokane, and Kevin Crane of Nine Mile Falls; his father and stepmother, Jim and Irene Crane of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; his former wife, Barbara Crane of Nine Mile Falls; his mother, Dorothy Cummings of Osburn, Idaho; four brothers, Tim Crane of Wallace, Dan Crane of Bozeman, Mont., Tyler Crane of Helena and James Crane of Albany, Ore.; and a sister, Connie Beaupre of Boulder, Mont.
Anna Hanlin Deer Park
Memorial service for Anna May Hanlin, 70, will be at 1 p.m. today at Christ’s Church in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hanlin, who was born at Onion Creek near Northport, Wash., died Wednesday.
She was a former Ione, Wash., resident and had lived in Deer Park for 20 years.
In 1946 she graduated from Northport Union High School.
Mrs. Hanlin worked as a licensed practical nurse in Falls River, Calif., and Metaline Falls, Wash. She also worked as a cook and waitress for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Roger and Kelly Hanlin, both of Deer Park; two daughters, Debbie Hanlin of Newman Lake and Darla McGovern of Bellingham; a sister, Marion Day of Happy Camp, Calif.; and two grandsons.
Leona (Shields) Zirker Moscow, Idaho
Visitation for Leona Sagers (Shields) Zirker, 78, will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in Moscow. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the stake center. Graveside service will be Tuesday at Roosevelt (Utah) Memorial Park. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Arcadia, Utah, Mrs. Zirker died Tuesday.
She graduated from high school in Roosevelt in 1940. She later received a degree in education from Brigham Young University.
Mrs. Zirker taught school in Roosevelt and Myrton, Utah, for three years. In 1946 she married Kenneth Zirker. They lived in Utah, Colorado and New Mexico before settling in Warden, Wash., in 1952. During the 1960s she worked as a substitute teacher in Warden.
Her family moved to Moscow in 1992.
Mrs. Zirker was a member of the Mormon Church and served a mission in Kentucky from 1984 to 1986 and in the Salt Lake City Genealogy Library from 1992 to 1993. She also served as a temple worker at the Seattle temple for more than 5 years and at the Spokane temple for six months.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kent Zirker of Moscow and Eugene Kirker of Dubuque, Iowa; two daughters, Brenda Richards of Moscow and Tami Zirker of Roosevelt; a brother, Ralph Shields of West Valley City, Utah; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Peter Anest Sr. Spokane
Memorial service for Peter Anest Sr., 77, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Felts Field Aviation. American Memorial in Everett, Wash., is in charge of arrangements. Another memorial service for Mr. Anest and his brother Samuel Anest, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435, 212 S. David Road.
Born in Everett, Mr. Anest died July 8 in an airplane crash near Gold Bar, Wash. His brother Samuel, and James Bleasner were also killed in the crash.
Mr. Anest began flying at age 17. As a civilian during World War II he trained fighter pilots. He later flew as a corporate pilot for Pacific Gas Transmission in Spokane. He retired in 1987.
Mr. Anest was a flight instructor and a member of the Eagles Lodge.
His wife, Mary, died in 1968.
Survivors include two sons, Perry Anest of Spokane and Peter Anest of Everett; a daughter, Marcia Goffinet of Spokane; two sisters, Katherine Thorson of Spokane and Gena Anest of Bellevue, Wash.; and a granddaughter.

James Bleasner Spokane
Memorial service for James S. Bleasner, 55, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fourth Memorial Church. American Memorial in Everett is in charge of arrangements A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Bleasner died July 8 in an airplane crash near Gold Bar, Wash., that also killed Samuel and Peter Anest Sr.
He graduated from East Valley High School.
Mr. Bleasner received a bachelor’s degree in forestry management from Washington State University.
He served in the Army from 1970 to 1972 as a second lieutenant in the Army Engineers.
Mr. Bleasner was a farmer in the Spokane area and worked as an electrician on the Alaskan Pipeline. He later completed courses in commercial electronics and aviation mechanics at Spokane Community College.
Mr. Bleasner had been a member of the Mount Spokane Ski Patrol since 1973. He was a pilot and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and other flying clubs. He was also a member of Fourth Memorial Church.
Survivors include his companion, Ellen Rodgers of Spokane; two sisters, Wanda Amsbury of Spokane and Pat Drollinger of Yakima; and a brother, Bill Bleasner of Spokane.

Robert Hunton, D.D.S. Spokane
Vigil service for Dr. Robert Timothy Hunton, D.D.S., 68, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church. Graveside service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Dr. Hunton died Tuesday.
He graduated from North Central High School and attended Gonzaga University.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War and later graduated from the University of Washington dental school.
In 1955 he married Mary Louise Shippert in Pocatello, Idaho.
Dr. Hunton practiced dentistry in Spokane from 1961 to 1993.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51, the Knights of Columbus and St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Michael, Matthew, John, Edward, Paul and Robert Hunton Jr.; two daughters, Stephanie Cook and Katherine Aguilar; a sister, Marguerite Lattanzio; two brothers, William and Thomas Hunton; and 29 grandchildren.

Corliss Donahoo Spokane
Service with full military honors for Corliss M. Donahoo, 79, was Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Born in Missouri, Mr. Donahoo died July 14.
He was a 34-year Spokane resident.
Mr. Donahoo served in the Army and Air Force for approximately 23 years. He retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant.
He married Winnie Hansel in 1997.
Mr. Donahoo was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Terry Taie of Spokane and Sylvia Stark of Pennsylvania; a sister, Twila Haecker of Missouri; and three grandchildren.
