Vh1 Planning Weekly Movies
VH1 has scheduled a different music-based movie every Wednesday night through Sept. 6, including several original films.
“It’s certainly our most aggressive attempt to establish a movie night,” said Jeff Gaspin, the network’s executive vice president of programming and production.
The original VH1 productions coming up include “Daydream Believers: The Monkees Story” on June 28 (repeating Aug. 2); “Out of Sync,” a comedy about a down-and-out record producer who discovers a housewife with a great voice, on July 12; “Meat Loaf: Bat Out of Hell” on July 26; and “At Any Cost,” about two brothers and their best friend who form a rock band, on Aug. 9.
Some of the other movies to be shown were acquired from broadcast networks, including telefilms about David Cassidy and Little Richard (NBC), the Partridge Family (ABC) and John Denver (CBS).
The schedule for those movies is: “Come on Get Happy: The Partridge Family Story,” June 7; “Take Me Home: The John Denver Story,” June 14; “Summer Dreams: The Story of the Beach Boys,” June 21; “Dill Scallion,” July 5; “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” July 19; “Elvis and Me,” Aug. 16; “Little Richard,” Aug. 23; “The David Cassidy Story,” Aug. 30, and “Blues Brothers 2000,” Sept. 6.
All of the movies start at 9 p.m. on AT&T Cable Channel 62 in Spokane.
