Grants Boost 16 Organizations Amount For Benewah, Kootenai Counties Totals $111,248
Sixteen nonprofit organizations in Benewah and Kootenai counties will receive Idaho Community Foundation grants totaling $111,248, announced Duane Jacklin, board member, in a press release Friday.
The grants will be awarded Tuesday at a community luncheon at noon at Best Western Cavanaughs Templin’s Resort.
At its meeting last month, the ICF board approved 69 grants, for $333,107, in the 10 North Idaho counties.
Grants awarded within Benewah and Kootenai counties include:
Coeur d’Alene Big Brothers and Big Sisters, $2,000 to help pay for the Mentors First program.
City of Coeur d’Alene Fire Department, $800 to buy “Learn Not to Burn,” a preschool program.
Coeur d’Alene School District, $9,731 to buy signing materials, a camcorder and pay for salaries.
Community Building Partners in Post Falls, $1,000 for renovations.
Falls Christian Academy in Post Falls, $9,008 to update curriculum materials.
Holy Family Catholic School in Coeur d’Alene, $14,765 for materials, field trips and salary for a project coordinator.
Hospice of Benewah County in St. Maries, $968 to purchase mattresses.
Idaho Wildlife Council - Watchable Wildlife in Coeur d’Alene, $2,225 to create signs for a North Idaho driving tour.
Nature Conservancy in Coeur d’Alene, $25,000 to help support program curriculum.
Post Falls Fire Protection District, $3,975 to help teach fire safety in the schools.
Special Olympics, $1,073 to buy a sound system.
Spirit Lake Volunteer Ambulance Inc., $703 to buy CPR mannequins.
Spokane Symphony Society, $5,000 to sponsor two free concerts at North Idaho College.
St. Maries High School, $5,000 to help publish a yearbook.
Timberlake Junior-Senior High School, $25,000 to start an applied horticulture class.
The Women’s Center Inc. in Coeur d’Alene, $2,000 to begin a program for kids who are victims of domestic violence.
Since its inception in 1988, ICF has given grants totaling more than $8.6 million.
