Mary Walden Wallace
Memorial Mass for Mary Alice Walden, 76, will be today at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Miss Walden, who was born in Wallace, died Wednesday.
She graduated from Wallace High School in 1942.
She was the first woman cab driver in Wallace, a job she held for 14 years.
In 1955 she began nurses training and became an LPN. She worked at Providence Hospital in Wallace and Catholic Hospital in Great Falls, Mont., before taking a position at St. Ignatius Hospital in Colfax, Wash.
She returned to the Wallace area after her retirement.
Miss Walden was a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Wallace and the Catholic Daughters.
Survivors include a brother, John Walden of Osburn, Idaho; two sisters, Marian Dancer of Wallace and Helen Davis of Orangevale, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Shoshone County Humane Society.
David Jutila Neosho, Mo.
Memorial service for David Lloyd Jutila, 28, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Mullan, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jutila, who was born in Kellogg, died Monday.
In 1990 he graduated from Mullan High School, and then served with the Navy for six years.
Mr. Jutila moved to Neosho several years ago and was a production worker for Lazy Boy Furniture Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include his son, Aaron of San Diego; his mother, Debbie Strope of Pinehurst, Idaho; his father and stepmother, Keith and Diane Jutila of Mullan; a brother, Robert Jutila of Pinehurst; a stepsister, Shari Garitone of Rathdrum, Idaho; and his grandmother, Virginia Troxel of Grand Coulee, Wash.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department.
Kenneth Morlan Spokane
Memorial service for Kenneth Morlan, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Cheney. A luncheon will follow at the church hall. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Morlan, who was born in Cowles, Neb., died Monday.
He graduated in 1938 from Lewis and Clark High School, and then attended Gonzaga University.
Mr. Morlan operated Morlan’s Sporting Goods, Morlan’s Clear Lake Resort and Morlan Homes Inc.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia; three daughters, Dani Daue, Jackie Miller and Barbara Ridnour; a son, John Morlan; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Rose of Lima Church.
Donna DeFord Fairfield
Memorial service for Donna M. DeFord, 67, will be at 6 p.m Saturday at the Fairfield Presbyterian Church. Private inurnment will be at Mount Hope (Wash.) Cemetery. Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. DeFord, who was born in Johnson, Wash., died last Saturday.
She grew up in Walla Walla and in 1951 moved to Fairfield. In 1952 she married Robert DeFord.
She worked for the Spokane County Library in the Fairfield Branch for 25 years before retiring in 1995.
Mrs. DeFord volunteered as a secretary and treasurer at the Southeast Spokane County Historical Society, and was a member of the Friends of Fairfield Library and Fairfield Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Bruce DeFord of Spokane, Steven DeFord of Colfax, Wash., and Rick DeFord of Fairfield; six daughters, Kristin Berry and Karen Fisher, both of Spokane, Kay Flanagan of Kettle Falls, Wash., Kathryn Byers of Spangle, Karla Ethier of Woodbury, Minn., and Kimberly Park of Boise; two brothers, Jack and Dale Nichols, both of Walla Walla; a sister, Marilyn Schoenwald of Clarkston, Wash.; and 22 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Hope Cemetery Association or the Southeast Spokane County Historical Society.
Paul Garcia Granite Bay, Calif.
Memorial service for Paul Garcia, 51, was held in California.
Mr. Garcia, who was born in Spokane, died May 27 at his vacation home in Coeur d’Alene.
He lived in Spokane until moving to the San Francisco area in 1957, and returned to the family’s summer cabin on Coeur d’Alene Lake nearly every year.
Mr. Garcia received an engineering degree and a business degree from Oregon State University, and then began a career as a real estate developer and investor.
Mr. Garcia also owned a summer lake cabin at Echo Bay on Coeur d’Alene Lake, and participated in the Coeur d’Alene Inland Empire Wooden Boat Show. He won many awards for his 1957 Century Coronado wooden boat, “Daughter Serra.”
Survivors include his wife, Sue (Stoeven); two daughters, Serra and Peri; his mother, Edmee Garcia of California; a sister, Brenda Garcia of Coeur d’Alene; and a brother, Geoffrey Garcia of Oregon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.
Eva Saldin Pullman
Memorial service for Eva Jean Saldin, 74, will be today at 10 a.m. at the Community Congregational Church in Pullman. Burial will be at Farmington (Wash.) Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Saldin, who was born in Farmington, died Sunday.
She graduated from Kinman Business School.
After graduation she worked for the University of Idaho at Moscow, Washington Trust Bank in Spokane and Shore Realty in Spokane.
She married Theodore Saldin in 1949, and they moved to Pullman.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Susan Strong of Seattle and Sharon O’Mary of San Diego; three sons, Ronald Saldin of Marysville, Wash., James Saldin of Tucson, Ariz. and Richard Saldin of El Segundo, Calif.; a brother, Harold Fisher of Farmington; and 10 grandchildren.

Anna Klavohn Rathdrum, Idaho
Graveside service for Anna M. Klavohn, 92, will be today at 3 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Klavohn, who was born in Marion, Ore., died Tuesday.
She grew up near Turner, Ore. She later moved to Salem, where she worked as a librarian for the Salem School District administration office.
Mrs. Klavohn moved to Coeur d’Alene in the mid-1980s to be near family.
She was a member of the Seventhday Adventist Church in Salem and Coeur d’Alene.
Her husband, Leslie, died in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Costello of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Dean Thomas of Beverly Beach, Ore.; two grandchildren, Linda and David; and two great-grandchildren.
Terry Paddock Spokane
Memorial service for Terry P. Paddock, 59, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Northwood Presbyterian Church. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Paddock, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.
He served in the Marine reserves in the early 1960s.
Mr. Paddock was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Hopkins of Spokane and Katie Paddock of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Troy Nechanicky of Spokane and John Paddock of Kansas City; two sisters, Pat Martin of Kennewick and Mary Airth of Alsea, Ore.; two brothers, Micky Richmond of Spokane and Tony Norman of Tualatin, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

William Lytle Spokane
Memorial service for William Phillip Lytle, 39, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Minnehaha Covenant Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lytle, who was born in Kennewick, died May 31 of a stroke.
He moved to Spokane in 1967 and attended Rogers High School Mr. Lytle was a member of the City Gate.
Survivors include his companion, Abigail Knight; his mother, Phyllis Moore of Spokane; his father, Joseph Lytle of College Place, Wash.; a brother, Charlie Lytle of Cheney; and a sister, Sandy Kangas of Chattaroy.
Frank Rogers Spokane
No service will be held for Frank Rogers. At his request, a party will be held in his honor at 3 p.m. Sunday at the family home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rogers, who was born in Fort Knox, Ky., died Monday from kidney failure. He was 34.
He graduated from North Central High School and attended Spokane Falls Community College.
He worked as a food server and bartender for various restaurants in Spokane. He sang in two rock bands in the 1980s and later entertained in Hawaii, San Francisco and Spokane.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jonni and Greg Hernandez of Grand Junction, Colo.; his father, John Rogers of Spokane; three sisters, Jonette Marshall of Avery, Idaho, and Brandy and Dawnele Hernandez, both of Phoenix; a brother, Brad Rogers of Bellingham; and his grandmother, Dorothy Rogers of Butte, Mont.
James Snyder Spokane
Memorial service for James Bruce Snyder, 83, will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Snyder, who was born in Seattle, died Saturday.
He owned and operated Snyder Roofing for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Mae; a stepdaughter, Sharon Williams of Spokane; two stepsons, Steve Hawk of Spokane and Dan Hawk of Mica, Wash.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
