Rebekah Rouw, a 1998 St. Maries High School graduate, has started a dance instruction school. Her parents are Laura and Ken Rouw of St. Maries. Bonner County Sandpoint
The 55th Annual Open Horse Show is set for June 17 and 18 at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. English-style competitions will be held at 8 a.m. June 17; Western-style riders compete at 8 a.m. June 18. The Boundary County Board of Trustees needs someone to fill a vacant Zone 1 Trustee position until July 1, when elected Trustee Bill Hays begins his duties. Kootenai County Post Falls
The slide show and lecture “Anything But Green” will be presented at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bloomers Junction, 6005 N. Idaho Road, Post Falls. Latah County Moscow
City engineers will begin designing a pedestrian and bicycle trail for east Moscow this winter. The City Council made provisions for part of the trail by annexing land adjacent to state Highway 8. An Idaho Transportation Department grant will partially pay for trail design, according to city engineer Gary Presol.
Shoshone County Kellogg
The South Fork Sewer District is having a serious problem with its systems. Too many residents have dumped used automobile oil, antifreeze and brake fluid down their sewer systems. The used petroleum products kill the bacteria that breaks down sewage in treatment plants in Mullan and Page. The district requests that residents put used petroleum products in a safe container and take it to the transfer station for disposal.

Pend Oreille County Newport
The Newport schools will again sponsor the Summer Food Service Program for children under 19 years old. All meals are free in the federally funded assistance program. Spokane County Medical Lake
A planned power outage in the Medical Lake area is expected to last several minutes Saturday between 6 and 7 a.m., allowing Avista utilities crews to make equipment upgrades.
Whitman County Colfax
The Whitman County Board of Commissioners has signed a memorandum of agreement with the city of Spokane that will help protect the Hangman Creek watershed. According to the agreement, the city will coordinate administering a $50,000 grant for protecting the watershed, which enters Whitman County near Tekoa.

Middle school student Kevin Mason is the winner of the school’s sixth annual All-School Chess Tournament. His twin brother, Peter Mason, is the runner-up. The eighth-grade class winner is Ben Sweeney, and the seventh-grade winner is Jared Schnackernberg. Cabinet Books and Music awarded gift certificates to the students.
