Two Students Receive Ewu Scholarships

Jessica Bowen, Otis Orchards, and Ryan Clouse, Reardan, Wash., have been selected to receive the presidential scholarships at Eastern Washington University. They were chosen based on their academic accomplishments in high school.

Bowen is the daughter of Rob and Marlene Brown, and will graduate from East Valley High School in June. She plans to major in secondary education at EWU.

Clouse, son of Rod and Brenda Clouse, will graduate from Reardan High School in June. He is active in Future Business Leaders of America, the National Honor Society, baseball and cross country.

Army National Guard Pvt. Heather J. Groom has graduated from the unit supply specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Va.

Groom is the daughter of Christine Smith and Bruce Branson, both of Spokane. She is a 1999 graduate of Rogers High School.

Gonzaga University students Aaron Moberg-Jones and Casey Kelley were honored at the Cross Examination Debate Association National Tournament. Moburg-Jones, a senior, was named to the academic all-American debate team. Kelley, a junior, was named to the allAmerican debate team.

Sven Hansen, son of Pat and Peggy Hansen, Spokane, completed basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

Hansen is a 1999 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Angela Vold, Sprague, Wash., a freshman at the University of Idaho, received the Outstanding Freshman/ Valkyries Award for outstanding service, leadership and academic achievement.

Tara Ogle, daughter of Barry and Tammy Benoit of Post Falls, and Steve Ogle of Spokane, was recently named to the quarterly dean’s list at University of Washington.
