Senior’S Stogie Not Amusing For Principal
Sounds like Principal A.C.
Woolnough got himself into a jam at Sandpoint High’s graduation. First, he refused to give a diploma to a Beavis who appeared on stage with a lit cigar. That caused the kid’s family to huff and puff, too. Such was the tension that a policeman later escorted A.C. from Memorial Field. Later still, a goofball threw a golf ball through assistant principal Pat Valliant’s car window. Two wrongs don’t make a right. But A.C. needs to lighten up. He didn’t need to rain on the Class of 2000’s parade.
Rumorama
If A.C. doesn’t have anything better to do, he should make sure each of Sandpoint High’s coaches is living up to his athletic code of conduct. The rumor mill between here and Sandpoint sez one of them ain’t … As a gardener, I noticed that Nickel’s Worth item advertising worm manure for sale. But I can’t decide whether to take a pickup to haul it off, or a matchbox … Also, the Bonner County Bee is seeking the “right reporter/photographer.” Read: willing to work long hours for low pay and no thanks … Sez here state Rep. Hilde Kellogg, 81, will finish her next term, if re-elected. Or die trying. If she steps down, the District 2 Legislative Committee would provide the names of three nominees to fill out Hilde’s term. Ah, did I mention red-meat conservatives Tina Jacobson, Kevin Krieg and Don Morgan hold sway on that committee?
By George
We may need a human-rights flack more than ever - now that Mayor Steve Judy has trolled for applicants in George, the magazine founded by the late John F. Kennedy Jr. Lake City didn’t look good in that June article about Judy’s search for a spinmeister: “Can’t we all just get good PR?” Quoth the Boy Mayor: “We are 96 percent white here. (But) I think we’re diverse - diversity is a state of mind. It has to be for us.” George wasn’t buying.
Out damn spot
Occasionally, an automatic garage-door opener encloses more than a vehicle. Ask Hayden’s Micki Spaulding. Unknowingly, she trapped the neighbor’s dog in her garage after returning from the store. Her 1989 Corvette has the claw marks to prove it … What do you suppose the punk who burglarized Coloradan Cheryl Buckley’s car is going to say when he finds her dentures in the pocket of that pricey coat? … With the meth epidemic raging, mebbe we should be happy the drug of choice burned by vandals into the Athol City Hall lawn was “pot.”
Huckleberries
My Berry Pickers say Bob Bennett has applied for a teaching post at North Idaho College. Nah, not the ex-NIC prez who’s still at Miles City (Mont.) Community College. His kid: Robert Jr. … FYI: So, the city told you that your wastewater and sewer rates aren’t going to go up? Ahaha. Mayor Steve Judy & Co. also are talking about a budget increase of 7 percent now. Up from 5 percent … FYI: Capt. Ken Timmons will be the next top CPD Blue to spin through City Hall’s revolving door. In July … Didja know there’s a county dock available for public use within The Coeur d’Alene boardwalk? Yep, just east of Hagadone Corp’s world headquarters. Use it. And tell ‘em Huckleberries sent you … Didja hear the one about the CdA woman who wrenched her back trying to paint an arbor while her husband was away? Said he upon his return: “Why didn’t you turn it on its side?” Yeah, now that you mention it, she was blonde - once … If you look closely, you’ll notice that gold ball atop Robideaux Motors’ giant new flagpole looks like a bowling ball. It is. Sally Robideaux’s mother once spun strikes with it.
Parting shot
Post Falls Mayor Gus Johnson was there Thursday when the North Idaho Centennial Trail was rededicated as Idaho’s Millennium Legacy Trail. So was Mr. Councilman, Clay Larkin of Post Falls. Yvonne Ferrell, the state parks & rec director. Excommissioner Bob Macdonald. And other VIPs from both sides of the border. But no Mayor Judy. So little time left. So many city employees to fire.
