Judge Oks Killing 3,500 Geese
A federal judge on Monday cleared the way for wildlife agents to kill 3,500 Canada geese in the Puget Sound region. U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman denied the court order sought by animal rights groups opposed to the killing.
The resident goose population in the Puget Sound region has grown to an estimated 25,000 birds. Each produces about three pounds of waste a day.
Attempts to move geese away or scare them off with dogs have not been successful.
