Carolyne `Kay’ Parshall Cheney

Funeral for Carolyne “Kay” Parshall, 80, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Parshall, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

She worked at The Crescent department store, where she managed the magazine section for several years. She went on to manage catalog sales at Montgomery Ward until her retirement.

Mrs. Parshall worked for Crowd Management Services after her retirement. She was a Brownie and Camp Fire leader and a member of Windsor Grange.

Her husband, Bert, died in 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Crawford of Spokane; a son, Dennis Parshall of Spokane; three sisters, Dorothy Barton of Lopez Island, Wash., Maxine Wisener of Republic, Wash., and Lorraine Buresh of Martin, S.D.; three brothers, Robert Ehrgott of Medical Lake, Ralph and Tom Ehrgott, both of Spokane; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Clyde McNamee Northport, Wash.

Vigil for Clyde Emmanual McNamee, a 38-year Northport resident, will be at 5 p.m. today at Pure Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Northport. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Vault burial will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, Wash. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McNamee, 65, died Friday. He was born in Chewelah, Wash.

He attended school in Chewelah before moving with his family to Spokane, where he attended high school and was an All-City baseball player.

Mr. McNamee served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He moved to Northport in 1961.

He worked as a truck driver for McNamee Logging for several years and later for Northport Lime and Stone, from which he retired in 1998 after 27 years of service.

Mr. McNamee married Shirley Thompson in 1985.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Colville, Northport Lions Club and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Kenny McNamee of Deer Park, Jimmy McNamee of Elk, Richard Bray of Sunnyside, Wash., John Bray of Northport, Michael Bray of Great Falls, Mont., and Robert Bray of Logan, Utah; four daughters, Sandy Maher of Elk, Karen Meyer of Colville, Marsha Wilson of Republic, Wash., and Susan LeCaire of Northport; four brothers, Larry, Joseph and Emmit McNamee, all of Northport, and Gene McNamee of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Larioum of Waitts Lake, Wash., and Margaret Blair of Spokane; and 19 grandchildren.

Rachel Shepard Palm Desert, Calif.

Private service for Rachel “Rae” Shepard, 92, will be held at a later date. Fitz Henry Funeral Home in Palm Springs, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shepard, who was born in Dixon, Ill., died Friday.

She lived in Lewiston from 1937 to 1953. In 1960 she moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Shepard was a real estate agent for 15 years and owned and operated Rae Shepard’s Antiques. She later was a homemaker.

Mrs. Shepard moved to Palm Desert in 1998.

Her husband, Byron, died in 1974.

Survivors include a daughter, Caryl Nieman of Palm Desert; and two grandchildren.

Norma Lesher Spokane

Memorial service for Norma B. Lesher, 64, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lesher, who was born in Springdale, Wash., died Friday.

She married Richard Lesher in 1955.

Mrs. Lesher was co-owner and operator of Ida and Norma’s Drapery in Spokane for many years.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Alan and Gregory Lesher, both of Spokane; a daughter, Susan Blach of Cheshire, Conn.; a brother, Marvin Ellis of Corning, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn Amos of Deer Park; and nine grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William Anderson Reardan, Wash.

Funeral for William M. Anderson, 78, will be at 2 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Burial will be at the Reardan Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson, who was born in Reardan, died Friday.

He graduated from Reardan High School and later from Washington State University with a degree in agronomy.

Mr. Anderson served in the Army during World War II.

He was a wheat farmer and a 15-year member of the Spokane Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service County Committee.

Mr. Anderson served as president of the Reardan Lions Club and was a lifetime member of the Reardan American Legion. He was a member of Reardan Presbyterian Church and the Reardan School Board, an honorary member of the Reardan Future Farmers of America and a past master of West Deep Creek Grange.

He also served on the board at the Apache Wells Country Club in Mesa, Ariz., where he spent his winters.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Scott Anderson; a daughter, Lorrie Grevstad; two stepsons, Craig and Dennis Bell; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Bowler Coeur d’Alene

Service for Kenneth D. Bowler, 63, will be held today at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Bowler, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Saturday.

He was an Army veteran and a lifelong Coeur d’Alene resident except for short stays in Germany and Washington state.

Mr. Bowler worked as a teacher until 1975. He then owned the North Country Auto sales dealership until selling the business five years ago.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Bryan Bowler of St. Charles, Mo.; three daughters, Cynthia Judd of Valley, Wash., Sonia Jansen of O’Fallon, Mo., and Serena Brison of Coeur d’Alene; his mother, Ingrid Carson of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Ron Bowler of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and nine grandchildren.

Glenda Scott Spokane

Memorial service for Glenda M. Scott, 62, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Scott, who was born in Elko, Nev., died Thursday.

She lived in the San Francisco Bay area for several years before moving to Spokane in 1966.

She and her husband of 45 years, Ken, co-owned and operated Spokane Acoustics Inc. for 15 years.

Her husband died in April.

Survivors include three children, Chris Scott of Spokane, Kennedy Scott of Sammamish, Wash., and Kerri Olson of Liberty Lake; her mother, Maye Phelps of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Barbara Chubick and Pamela Cross; three brothers, Allen, Terry and Patrick Phelps; and five grandchildren.

Philip Weisz Colville, Wash.

Funeral Mass for Philip Edwin Weisz, a 31-year Colville-area resident, was Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colville. Burial was at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weisz, 88, died Wednesday. Born in Lehr, N.D., he attended schools there before moving to Egeland, N.D., where he farmed for seven years.

In 1935 he married Edvina Michaels. They farmed for several years and later owned and operated a grocery store in Egeland for five years. They later moved to McVille, N.D., where they operated a hardware store.

In 1947 Mr. Weisz moved to Devils Lake, N.D., living there for 19 years and working at the local hardware store before moving to Cando, N.D., in 1966.

In 1968 he moved to Colville, where he began working for Boise Cascade Lumber. He later worked for the Fogle family ranch and for Fogle Equipment in Colville.

Mr. Weisz was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a trustee for the Colville Senior Center and a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge.

His wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Leroy Weisz of Colville and Dennis Weisz of Donald, Ore.; a daughter, Marlene Evans of Yakima; three brothers, Herb Weisz of Cando, Al Weisz of Lacey, Wash., and Will Weisz of Hillsboro, Ore.; two sisters, Hertha and Ida Klipfel, both of Cando; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ella Anderson Cheney

Visitation for Ella P. Anderson, a longtime Cheney-area resident, will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Funeral Chapel. Graveside funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Anderson, who was born in Wacoma, Iowa, died Friday. She was 84.

She came to the Amber (Wash.) area as a child, graduating from Cheney High School in 1933.

In 1934 she married Melvin Anderson. They farmed in the Amber area for many years before moving to Cheney in 1957.

Mrs. Anderson worked as a bookkeeper for Eastern Washington University from 1957 until her retirement.

Her husband died in 1979.

In 1982 she married Kent Sooy. They returned to farming in the Amber area. He died in 1999.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of Amber Grange, Washington State Cow Belles and the Pioneer Ladies Bridge Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Harris of Post Falls and Claudia Tarbert of Spokane; a son, Jerry Anderson of Cheney; two sisters, Mae Schmidt of Big Bend, Wis., and Ora Staven of Adams, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mae Dickson Spokane

Graveside service for Mae C. Dickson, a 60-year Spokane Valley resident, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dickson, 98, died Thursday. She was born in Farmington, Wash.

She lived in Miles City, Mont., for many years before moving to the Spokane area.

Mrs. Dickson worked at the Naval Supply Depot, Kaiser Aluminum and for The Crescent department store.

She also was a homemaker and a caregiver for various family members.

Mrs. Dickson was a charter member of the Spokane Valley Eagles Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Her husband, Virgil, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Grace Wallace of Spokane; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Viola Seitters Colville, Wash.

Funeral for Viola M. Seitters, a lifetime Colville-area resident, was Monday at the Colville United Methodist Church. Graveside service followed at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Seitters, who was born in Addy, Wash., died Thursday.

She attended schools in Colville before moving to Spokane to attend business college and work as a bookkeeper. She returned to Colville in 1945 and married Earl Seitters.

They started a dairy farm on Spanish Prarie Road in Colville.

Mrs. Seitters was a member of Colville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She was a member of Colville Valley Grange, serving as a secretary for many years. She also was a member of 4-H and was a Girl Scout leader.

Her husband died in 1995.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbi Baerlocher of Lewiston, and Kathy Berg and Judy Galli, both of Colville; a son, Richard Seitters of Colville; four sisters, Dorothy Kamossa of Wisconsin, Doreen Allie and Myrna Clark, both of Spokane, and Geraldine Holst of California; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made the Colville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Marilyn Price Brown Spirit Lake, Idaho

Memorial service for Marilyn Dulcie “Sweet” Price Brown, 75, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church. Committal service will follow at Spirit Lake Cemetery. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown, who was born in Edgemere, Idaho, died Tuesday.

She moved to Spirit Lake as a teenager and graduated from high school there. She worked at Galena Mine as a welder and was also an airplane riveter during World War II. Mrs. Brown worked as a telephone operator in Spokane for many years. She married James C. Brown in 1951 and they lived in Spirit Lake.

She was a homemaker and mother was active with the Spirit Lake Grandmothers Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge and the Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Brown was also a gardener and talented seamstress.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, James; four daughters, Bethaney McCabe of Coeur d’Alene, Tina Coles of Garfield, Wash., Holly Brawner of Spokane and Melodee Riggers of Nezperce, Idaho; a son, James Brown of Spirit Lake; two brothers, Herbert Price of Edgemere and George Price of Seattle; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Emma Miller Spokane

Funeral for Emma Jo Miller, a 45-year Spokane resident, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Miller, 70, died Thursday. She was born in Reardan, Wash.

She was a homemaker

Her husband of 48 years, Alfred, died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Ron Miller of Spokane; a daughter, Kathy Henkle of Colbert; three brothers, Merle, Glen and Roy Anyan; three sisters, Ethel Loomis, Jean Loiseau and Gladys Jones; and five grandchildren.
