Don’T Duck A Chance To Help Fund-Raiser

Ducks are still available for transforming into hot-rod waterfowl to compete in a Fourth of July race on Lake Pend Oreille.

The race will be the second Duck Derby fund-raiser for Kinderhaven, a home for foster children in Sandpoint. Organizers hope to sell at least 54 ducks and raise $5,000 for the home.

The decoy ducks cost $50 each. Ducks can be decorated and motorized for the derby, but no fuel engines or air propellers are allowed. Ducks must be delivered to Coldwater Creek by July 1 for judging.

The ducks will have their own float in the Fourth of July Parade, and will be guarded by duck guards armed with squirt guns. The float will end up at Sandpoint City Beach for the race.

Sponsors include the Panhandle Building Contractors Association, Coldwater Creek and Sandpoint.com.
