2-Day Festival Includes Plays, Workshops
Get your fill of kid-oriented theater as Spokane hosts the Northwest Regional Children’s Theatre Festival on Saturday and Sunday.
Children’s theater companies from Spokane, Portland, Helena and Chewelah, Wash., will perform plays, all of which are open to the public.
In addition, the festival will feature workshops and classes on topics including stage dialect, playing the villain, animal makeup and creating a comic female character.
The festival is at Spokane Community College’s Greene Street campus. Registration for both days is $15, which includes all of the plays and workshops, as well as dinner on Saturday night and a T-shirt. Register at the Spokane Children’s Theatre office, 315 W. Mission, or at SCC beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Tickets to the individual shows are $3.50, available at the door. Here’s the lineup:
“Great American Tall Tales,” by Christian Youth Theatre of Spokane, Saturday, 8:30 and 11 a.m.
“I Am No Longer Young: Children’s Voices from the Civil War,” Jenkins Middle School Drama Class, Chewelah, Saturday, 12:25 and 2:45 p.m.
“Bugsy Malone,” Grand Street Theatre School, Helena, Saturday, 1:30 and 4 p.m.
“Anne of Green Gables,” Spokane Children’s Theatre, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
“Funny Bunny Foo-Foo,” World of Wonder Puppet Theatre, Portland, Sunday, 10:30 and 11:45 a.m.
“Music of the Millennium,” Box ‘N’ Hat Players, Spokane Civic Theatre, Sunday, 1 p.m.
“Juvie,” Theater Arts for Children, Spokane Valley, Sunday, 2:15 and 3:30 p.m.
