Murder Trial Delayed For Ex-Spokane Man

From Staff

The trial of a Persian Gulf War veteran from Spokane who was charged in the 1998 shotgun killings of his girlfriend and her three children has been delayed again, this time because of a congested court schedule.

Jeffrey Hutchinson, 37, a former Army Ranger, had been scheduled for trial June 26. The latest in a series of continuances was ordered Wednesday, pushing the trial back to July 24.

Hutchinson is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the 1998 deaths of Renee Flaherty, 32, and her children, Geoffrey, 8, Amanda, 6, and Logan, 4, at a home he shared with them near Crestview.
