Marie `Lippie’ Marks Spokane

Service for Marie “Lippie” Marks will be at noon Monday at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marks, who was born in Stockton, Calif., died Wednesday. She was approximately 78.

She was a 38-year resident of Spokane and a Gypsy Roma.

A homemaker, Mrs. Marks also served as a midwife in the Gypsy Roma community.

Her husband, Grover, died in 1997.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy, Pete and Bobby Marks, all of Spokane; four daughters, Laura Zeko of Boise, Helen Marks of Wichita, Kan., Peggy Marks of Austin, Texas, and Linda Smith, of Salem, Ore.; 40 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Marjorie (Blakemore) Thompson Hayden Lake, Idaho

Memorial service for Marjorie May (Blakemore) Thompson, 79, will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Faith Presbyterian Church in Hayden. Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thompson, who was born and raised in Spokane, died June 8.

She graduated from North Central High School and attended Whitworth College and Kinman School of Business. She worked for the Spokane Public Library for five years.

She married Dr. Mel Blakemore in 1941, and they moved to Portland where she worked at the Vancouver shipyards. They returned to Spokane after World War II. Her husband died in 1972.

Mrs. Thompson was remarried to Robert Thompson in 1975, and they lived in Liberty Lake. They then moved to Hayden Lake around 1985.

She was a member of the Spokane Country Club’s Eighteen-Hole Ladies Club, the Liberty Lake and Avondale women’s golf clubs, Women’s Dental Auxiliary, various units of the American Contract Bridge League and Faith Presbyterian Church in Hayden. She also served on the Spokane Area Women’s Golf Association board.

Her husband died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Kim Blakemore of Spokane; a daughter, Linda Lilly of Hemet, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Swift and Lori Muller, both of Spokane; a brother, Don Hand of Seattle; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church in Hayden.

John Adams Spokane

Memorial service for John C. Adams, 82, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Mary Queen Roman Catholic Church. Spokane Cremation Society and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adams, who was born in Eau Claire, Wis., died Sunday.

He graduated from Post Falls High School, where he was an all-star basketball player.

Mr. Adams worked for a railroad and the Bureau of Reclamation and also was a sawmill edger, handyman, farmer, carpenter, logger and shake manufacturer.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Doris; three sons, John Jr., Jim and Bill, all of Spokane; a daughter, Rita Framstad of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Lewis Behr Spokane

Graveside service for Lewis Von Behr, 85, will be at 1 p.m. today at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, Idaho. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Behr, who was born in Lakeview, Ore., died Tuesday. He was a 55-year Spokane resident.

He worked as a bookkeeper. Survivors include his wife, Lydia; a daughter, Joan Lang of Spokane; a son, Don Behr of Orlando, Fla.; a brother; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Robert Gates Spokane

Private service for Robert D. Gates, 47, will be held at a later date. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gates, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Saturday.

He was a crane operator at Kaiser Aluminum.

Mr. Gates was a member of the United Steelworkers union.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim Gates; his parents, Betty and Don Gates; and a brother, Tim Gates.

Gerald Stevenson Spokane

Visitation for Gerald “Jerry” Robert Stevenson, 75, will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Service is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at the Reardan (Wash.) Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Reardan Cemetery.

Mr. Stevenson, who was born in Latah, died Thursday.

He graduated from Reardan High School in 1943. He later graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in soil sciences and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Mr. Stevenson served in the Marines during World War II. He was involved in four major battles in the South Pacific during the war.

He married Gerry Ann Stanfield in 1958.

Mr. Stevenson sold fertilizers throughout the Northwest for a while until he returned to his family’s wheat farm near Reardan.

He was a member and president of the Reardan School Board and was a member of Reardan Grain Growers, Reardan Lions Club and the Westerners. He also was a former member and past master of West Deep Creek Grange.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ray Stevenson of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; a daughter, Ann Everett of Reardan; a sister, Betty Wilson of Spokane; six grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

R.E. `Eddie’ Page Ruth Page Kauai, Hawaii

Memorial Mass for for R.E. “Eddy” Page, 90, and Ruth Crick Page, 70, will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Page, who was born in Milwaukee, died Oct. 18, 1999.

Mrs. Page, who was born in Vale, Ore., died Oct. 3, 1981.

Mr. Page grew up in Spokane and graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1926. He then worked as an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life until 1934, when he became an independent agent and owned R.E. “Eddie Page Insurance Inc. in Spokane. He retired in 1978.

He served as a flight instructor at Thunderbird Field in Arizona during World War II and trained American and Chinese cadets before returning to the Inland Northwest.

Mrs. Page moved to Spokane in 1929. She later graduated from Washington State University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

The couple maintained a summer home in Hayden Lake, Idaho, where Mr. Page was a member and former treasurer of the Hayden Lake Golf and Country Club. They wintered at their home in Kauai, later moving there.

Mr. Page was also a member of the Sierra Club Spokane and was a former chairman on the board of Holy Names College.

Mr. Page is survived by a brother, David Page of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Alycemarie Hallett of Hayden Lake; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Page is survived by a brother, James Crick Jr. of Spokane; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the Gonzaga Preparatory School Foundation or Gonzaga University.

Beverly Jones Spokane

Memorial service for Beverly Hones, 41, will be at 3 p.m. today at Players and Spectators. Private service will also be held at a later date. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jones, who was born in Kirkland, Wash., died Wednesday. She was a 13-year Spokane resident.

She had worked for Players and Spectators.

Survivors include her husband, Randy; three daughters, Kelli Jessen and Cassidy Jones, both of Spokane and Marcia Jones-Boyer; a stepson, Cameron Jones of Spokane; her mother, Pearl Lange of Spokane; three brothers, Virgil Lange and Allyn Boudreax, both of Spokane, and Tim Lange of Campbell, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Lillie (Sackman) Dotson Spokane

Service for Lillie Grace (Sackman) Dotson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sunset Mausoleum Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Private burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dotson, who was born in Sprague, Wash., died Tuesday. She was 103 and a 54-year Spokane resident.

She married Walter Dotson in 1915. They were farmers in Lamont, Wash., until they moved to Spokane.

Her husband died in 1960.

Survivors include a son, Warren Dotson; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Norman Fieldstad Lacey, Wash.

Memorial service for Norman Sigur Fieldstad, 90, will be at 2 p.m. today at the West Side Alliance Church in Olympia. Private burial was at the Grand Mound Cemetery in Rochester, Wash. Newell-Hoerling’s Mortuary in Centralia, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fieldstad, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.

He graduated from West Valley High School and received his degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington.

Mr. Fieldstad married Lucille Shearer in 1938 and served in the Navy during World War II.

He later was an independent general building contractor in Spokane for 30 years.

In 1964 Mr. Fieldstad moved to Olympia, where he worked as a civil engineer for the federal government at Fort Lewis until his retirement in 1981.

He was a licensed pilot and flew small aircraft for business and pleasure.

His wife died in 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Tedd Fieldstad of Rochester, Wash., and Eric Fieldstad of Grimes, Iowa; two sisters, Esther Lancaster of Spokane and Lillian Sorenson of Centralia; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Margaret Boles Deer Park

Service for Margaret Louise Boles, 81, will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Deer Park. Burial will be at 11 a.m. next Saturday at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo, Calif. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Boles, who was born in Dalhart, Texas, died Thursday.

She graduated from San Fernando Valley (Calif.) High School in 1937.

Mrs. Boles worked in Long Beach, Calif., during World War II at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft.

She married Leon Boles in 1946.

Mrs. Boles was a psychiatric technician at Camarillo State Mental Hospital. She retired in 1977 and moved to Deer Park in 1987.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Deer Park.

Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie Veillette and Reva Willis, both of Deer Park, and Claudia Haynes of Eugene, Ore.; two sons, Robert Boles of Simi Valley, Calif., and James Boles of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Audrey Burrows of Norwalk, Calif., and James Burrows of Bakersfield; a sister, Charlotte Vance of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Stanley `Papa’ Hansen Tacoma

Memorial service for Stanley Seaborg “Papa” Hansen, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup, Wash.

Mr. Hansen, who was born in Taylor, N.D., died Monday.

He attended schools in Kelso, Wash., and moved to Spokane in the 1930s.

He worked for Montgomery Ward for 20 years and was an independent accountant.

In 1975 Mr. Hansen moved to Tacoma, where he and his wife managed the Diamond Apartments for 13 years.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Jayne; three stepdaughters, Connie Methven, Cathie Webb and Shirley McCallum; three stepsons, Gene Rudolph Jr. and Dennis and John Rudolph; a sister, Dorothy Irwin of Longview, Wash.; and 14 grandchildren.
