A man standing at a bus stop lost possesion of his cell phone when someone snatched it out of his hands Friday, Spokane police said.

The 19-year-old told police he was standing at a bus stop at Fifth and Altamont with several other people when one of them suddenly grabbed the phone from his hand and ran east, said police spokesman Dick Cottam. The phone is a black Mitsubishi, and the man immediately canceled the account with his cell phone company, Cottam said.

Stabbing follows noise complaint

A man told police he was cut by a woman when he asked her and her friends to quit making so much noise, Cottam said.

The man said he confronted members of the group sitting on the steps to his apartment building at 31 W. Pacific last Thursday, Cottam said. He told police they were drinking and being noisy, and when he asked them to leave, a woman walked toward him and stabbed him in the side.

He said he then kicked her down the stairs, and the whole group left.

Responding police found the woman, interviewed her and her friends, then made an arrest, Cottam said. They also found a pocketknife nearby.

Josephina M. Abeyta, 22, who said she lived on 1612 E. Boone, was booked into jail on a charge of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.

The man was treated by paramedics and released.
