The Arizona Corporation Commission has endorsed the proposed $52 billion merger between U S West Inc. and Qwest Communications International Inc., clearing the way for federal approval.

Shareholders of America Online Inc. and Time Warner Inc. have approved the proposed combination of their two companies. The ambitious pairing must still be cleared by U.S. and European regulatory agencies.
