Adams County Washtucna

The Fourth of July bash here will include annual favorites: a parade, Lions Club barbecue and firefighter’s breakfast. Also on tap are kids’ tricycle races and other games, a model airplane show, horseshoe tournament, softball, a street dance and consignment auction.

Ferry County Republic

Republic High School golf hotshot Bryan Dansel recently shot a blistering 28 over nine holes to upend Oroville’s John Farley’s former record of 30, which had stood for several years at Sheridan Greens.

Grant County Grand Coulee

A permanent solution to the disintegrating hillside underneath Coulee Community Hospital is in the works and is estimated to cost $41,390. The sliding hillside was first discovered in the winter of 1998-99.

Lincoln County Keller Ferry

Lake Roosevelt waters are rising to normal summer levels. All campgrounds, marinas and boat launches along the lake are operational. The new picnic shelter at Keller Ferry is finished and ready for use.

Pend Oreille County Diamond Lake

County Commissioner Mike Hanson says he’s “scared to death” about new shoreline rules proposed by the Department of Ecology. Hanson owns property on Diamond Lake.

Stevens County Colville

A recent audit cleared Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home of all deficiencies and found it in compliance with state and federal standards of care.

Whitman County Pullman

The Fire Department reminds residents the safest way to enjoy fireworks is to be in Sunnyside Park on July 4 for the display that will be linked to music.

Benewah County St. Maries

The St. Maries school district will hold a second public meeting on two draft policies which address drug testing of students in extracurricular activities. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Thursday.

Bonner County Sandpoint

Bonner County waste disposal sites will be closed for the Fourth of July.

Boundary County Bonners Ferry

The Boundary Volunteer Ambulance recently purchased a 2000 Ford ambulance to replace a 1984 ambulance.

Kootenai County Coeur d’Alene

The 16th annual Wooden Boat Festival will be July 14-16 at The Coeur d’Alene Resort’s boardwalk. There are at least 65 restored boats and yachts expected. An art show, vendor booths, a sandcastle contest, wakeboard demonstrations and boat rides will be included.

Latah County Moscow

Debi Dockins is the new director of Volunteer Services at Gritman Medical Center. She also facilitates the Junior Volunteer Program. Students ages 14 to 18 who volunteer may be eligible for scholarships. Call (208) 883-6231.
