A Rare Old Time

Their chance to celebrate a birthday comes only every four, years, so “leapers” or “29ers” from as faraway as Switzerland thronged to the tiny border town of Anthony, Texas, for a four-day birthday bash that culminated with a concert by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on Tuesday night. Rocker Graham Nash’s wife, Susan, is a 29er. Other events included a golf and fishing tournament, hot air balloon rides,, a chuckwagon breakfast, 5K walk and 1 OK run, wine tasting, concerts, an arts and crafts fair and a parade - in which “leapers” such as Ken Hardwick, in the photo above, celebrates being Sweet 16.
