Cda Students Compete At Annual Science Fair
The Coeur d’Alene School District’s annual science fair, which will bring 887 students from public, private and home schools, begins this weekend.
The fair runs Friday through Tuesday at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. The public is invited to visit from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Students will set up projects Friday afternoon and evening for judging Saturday morning.
The fair will include exhibits from all Coeur d’Alene schools, Holy Family Catholic School, Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy, North Idaho Christian School, Noah’s Ark Kindergarten and some home schools.
An awards ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Building 3 at the fairgrounds. Ribbons will be awarded to the top entries in each division, and traveling trophies will be given to the school with the best participation and most awards based on population.
The Coeur d’Alene Education Association will present a $300 scholarship to the best-of-show entry. The peoples’ choice winner will receive a plaque. Some businesses also are sponsoring incentive awards.
The science fair began in 1958, was discontinued 10 years later and resumed in 1978.
