Bomb Explodes In Valley Mailbox

A bomb made of gunpowder, tinfoil and a plastic container exploded last week in a mailbox in the 3500 block of South Eastern Road.

The homeowner heard a noise between 8:30 and 9 p.m. on Feb. 23. He told deputies that he hadn’t investigated at the time because he thought it was a car backfiring.

The man reported the incident Thursday after he discovered the front of his mailbox was open and an explosive device was inside.

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
