Banana Republic chief executive Jeanne Jackson was named Wednesday to the top post at Wal-Mart.com, the Internet arm of the giant retail chain that has struggled to find its way on the Web. Jackson is charged with building Wal-Mart.com into an online powerhouse. Jackson, 48, has built Banana Republic into a chic clothing chain, filled with trendy fashions. For the past two years, she also has been in charge of the online operations at the Gap Inc., parent of Banana Republic, Gap and Old Navy stores.

Rite Aid Corp., the financially-troubled U.S. drug store chain, said Wednesday that board member Timothy J. Noonan has resigned, effective immediately. During an executive reshuffle in October, Noonan, 58, briefly served as the company’s interim chief executive officer, chief operating officer and president until the positions were filled permanently in December.
