Gallery Will Host Informal Art Talks

The Cheney Cowles Museum’s Art at Work Gallery will host the new Friday Night Salons that features an informal, entertaining and educational discussion on art.

Ric Gendron is the first artist who will give a personal insight into his art and answer questions.

Future artists to be featured are Wendy Franklund Miller on April 7; Kathleen Cavendar, May 5; Lisa Nappa and Roger Rawlston, June 2; Christine Kimball, July 7; and Dan Spalding, Aug. 4.

The events are free and open to the public. They begin at 7 p.m. at the gallery, 123 N. Post. For more information call the gallery at 458-6580.

Call for Artists

Inland Craft Warnings - the annual sale and exhibition of fine contemporary crafts - is accepting applications for jury.

Application deadline is April 1 for the Nov. 10-12 show at the Spokane Convention Center.

For a prospectus, send a businesssized stamped, self-addressed envelope to G. Freuen, Inland Craft Warning, 15205 Shady Slope Road, Spokane, WA 99208.

River Ridge Association of Fine Arts is accepting applications from artists to enter their works in its Juried Art Exhibit next month.

Registration is limited to two pieces of two-dimensional art. Work must be original from the artist’s own source. Judging will be in oil (including heavy medium acrylic), water and mixed media, pastels and drawing.

Artists must register by March 31 to reserve space in the exhibit. Paintings are to be delivered, 9 a.m. to noon, April 14, to the Evergreen Center, 1309 N. Evergreen.

The show runs April 15 to 29 at the center.

Classes

Corbin Art Center has released its schedule of classes for the week beginning Monday at the center, 507 W. Seventh.

Adult classes include “Soap-Making with Aromatherapy,” “Hand Coloring Black-and-White Prints,” “Art of the Renaissance,” “Simple Bookbinding,” and “Using Compliments in Painting.”

Children’s classes include “St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock” for those 3 to 5 years old, and making hats for St. Pat’s for those 6 to 12.

Spokane Art School is holding two upcoming workshops at the school, 920 N. Howard.

“Painting on Furniture” will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and March 12. Tuition is $80.

A paper-scultpting workshop will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and March 18. Tuition is $34.

Registration is open for two new “Music Together” classes beginning March 16 at Holy Names Music Center, 3910 W. Custer Drive.

Classes for the 10-week session will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays. A free parent orientation will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the center.

Tuition is $110 for a family’s first child and $78.50 for each additional child.

Auditions

The Spokane Falls Community College drama department will hold auditions for its spring musical, “Working, A Blue Collar Musical About Working Men, Women and Children,” from 1 to 4 p.m. March 13 and 14 at the SFCC Playhouse, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Drive.

Auditioners should prepare a 16-bar musical selection. The musical will be staged May 11 to 14.
