Sam Manfred Spokane
Vigil service for Sam A. Manfred, 81, will be at 5 p.m. today at St. Paschal Roman Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Otis Orchards. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr.
Manfred died Sunday.
He graduated from West Valley High School in 1936.
Mr. Manfred served in the Army from 1942 to 1945.
He operated Manfred’s Tavern for 26 years.
Mr. Manfred was a member of St. Paschal Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; three sons, Rick Manfred of Spokane, Don Manfred of Deer Park and Harold Manfred of Everett; a daughter, Pam McIntyre of Spokane; four stepsons, John and Steve Brunelle, both of Spokane, Gary Brunelle of Post Falls and Kevin Brunelle of Boise; three stepdaughters, Elaine George and Jean Goulart, both of Spokane, and Barbara Murphy of Seattle; a brother, Fonzie Manfred of Seattle; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Harold White Spokane
Memorial service for Harold Leland White, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at Audubon Park United Methodist church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
A 36-year Spokane resident, Mr. White died Monday. He was born in Rantoul, Kan.
He moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 1935 and helped his father with a small dairy farm. He later worked on various welldrilling jobs, herded sheep and farmed.
From 1937 to 1941 he worked for the Meridian Cemetery District and from 1941 to 1944 he worked for the Ada County Dairymen’s Association.
Mr. White enlisted in the Air Force in 1944 and served in Spokane, Guam, Okinawa, Japan, Cuba and England. He retired in 1964 as senior master sergeant.
He received the Air Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Medal, the Japanese Occupation Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster and the National Service Medal.
From 1964 to 1965 he helped complete the educational unit at Audubon Park United Methodist Church, did lawn maintenance for the Veterans’ Affairs Hospital and drove a delivery truck for Erickson Cabinet Works.
Mr. White then worked as a mail carrier for the Postal Service until 1980.
He was a member of Audubon Park United Methodist Church and held various offices over the years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ruth; a son, Daniel White of New York City; a daughter, Loralee Lindlsey of Skokie, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Hester (Shriver) Wyer Spokane
Service for Hester E. (Shriver) Wyer, 83, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rosalia (Wash.) Christian Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wyer, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.
In 1938 she graduated form North Central High School and married Neal Wyer.
They lived in Rosalia and she was a homemaker.
She moved to an assisted living center in Spokane last September.
Mrs. Wyer was active with the Rosalia Float Committee.
Her husband died in 1977.
Survivors include a son, Jim Wyer of Spokane; a daughter, Mary Wyer of Hillsborough, N.C.; and a brother, James Shriver of Spokane.

Kathryn Thur Spokane
Visitation for Kathryn Lucille Thur, 79, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mrs. Thur, who died Monday, was born in Mapleton, N.D.
She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Veterans’ Affairs Hospital.
She was a 46-year Spokane resident and a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond; four sons, Ronald and Raymond Thur Jr., both of Spokane, Richard Thur of Battleground, Wash., and Rodney Thur of Tranquility, Calif.; a brother, Marvin Conant, and a sister, Loretta Crowder; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Timothy `Lupey’ Lewis Spokane
Memorial service for Timothy Wayne “Lupey” Lewis, 32, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Lewis died Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Interstate 90 east of Liberty Lake.
He graduated from University High School.
Mr. Lewis served in the Army during Desert Storm and also was stationed in Germany.
He later worked as a truck driver and most recently was employed by Core-Mark.
Survivors include his wife, Lori; a son, Stephen Lewis of Germany; three stepdaughters; his mother and stepfather, Janet and Calvin Webb of Spokane; a sister, Wendy Pardun of Spokane; and his grandmother, Mildred Walters of Spokane.

Susan Broenneke Spokane
Rosary for Susan M. (Guske) Broenneke, 65, will be at 8 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in LaCrosse, Wash., Mrs. Broenneke, died Monday.
She graduated from LaCrosse High School and in 1959 married Ray Broenneke. They moved to Spokane in 1961.
Mrs. Broenneke worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Lisa Crisp, Kim Broenneke and Kris Broenneke-Ahn, all of Issaquah, Wash.; two sisters, Donna Hansen of LaCrosse and Joan Arnzen of Atlanta; two brothers, Robert Guske of Santa Rose, Calif., and Gerald Guske of Tampa, Fla; and six grandchildren.

Reta (Inman) Goulette Spokane
Visitation for Reta F. (Inman) Goulette, 90, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. Service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Mandan, N.D., Mrs. Goulette died Sunday.
She graduated from Little Falls High School in Minnesota in 1927. She was a 60-year Spokane resident and was personnel director at Kinman Business College in Spokane from 1944 until she married Thomas Goulette in 1948.
During the 1950s and 1960s she was a Bluebird and Camp Fire leader. In the 1960s and 1970s she worked as a sales clerk for JC Penney.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Her husband died in 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Robbins of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Jeanne Liland Spokane
Memorial service for Jeanne Marie Liland, 81, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Liland died Sunday.
She graduated from West Valley High school and Spokane Junior College.
Mrs. Liland studied interior design at the New York School of Interior Decoration.
During World War II she worked for the draft board.
She later was a homemaker.
Her husband, Erling, died in 1994.
Survivors include a brother, Ted Beadle of Spokane; and a sister, Peggy Koch of Valleyford.

Robert Beck Anchorage, Alaska
Visitation for Robert Frank “Bob” Beck, a former Spokane resident, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Born near Valley, Wash., Mr. Beck died March 2. He was 65.
Mr. Beck worked in the construction industry.
In the mid 1970s he moved to Tillamook, Ore., and worked as a commercial fisherman off the Oregon coast.
He moved to Anchorage in the mid 1980s.
Survivors include two sons, Robert and Richard Beck; a daughter, Theresa Schneider; three brothers, John, Jim and George Beck; two sisters, Faye Weiler and Donna Beck; and seven grandchildren.
Mary Lang Spokane
Memorial service for Mary S. Lang, 86, is planned for 3 p.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A 32-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Lang died Monday. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa.
She received a master’s degree in English from Stanford University in 1938.
Mrs. Lang was a property manager in the commercial real estate industry.
Her husband, Otto, died in 1961.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Deborah Lang of Spokane; and two great-grandchildren.

Vivian Moline Spokane
Visitation for Vivian Bohman Moline, 79, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Manito Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Moline died Tuesday. She was born in Troy, Idaho.
She graduated from the University of Idaho in 1943 and taught at Riverside High School, LaCrosse (Wash.) High School and Havermale Junior High School.
In 1952 she married W.A. Moline, a Spokane dentist.
Mrs. Moline was a member of Manito Presbyterian Church and Women’s Group, the Washington State Dental Auxiliary and the Spokane District Dental Auxiliary, which she had served as an officer.
Her husband died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, William Moline of Spokane; a daughter, Nancy Lavens of Calgary, Alberta; a stepson, David Moline of Corvallis, ore.; a stepdaughter, Ruth Clarke of Spokane; a sister, Violet Whittaker of Jacksonville, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Amalia Amann Greenacres

Born in Richardton, N.D., Mrs. Amann died Friday.
She was a 62-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Alfred Amann of Lompoc, Calif., and James Amann of Las Vegas; two daughters, Shirley Grosch of Spokane and Margaret Lawrence of Sacramento, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clara Powell Spokane
Graveside service for Clara Powell, 89, was Monday at Prosser (Wash.) East Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell, who died last Thursday, was born in Washington, Iowa.
She moved to Spokane in 1945 from Chicago and was a homemaker.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Neal Powell of Medical Lake, Dan Powell of Eugene, Ore., and Larry Miller of Goleta, Calif.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Ronald Erickson Spokane
Visitation for Ronald G. Erickson, 51, will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Erickson died Sunday.
He graduated from North Central High School in 1967.
Mr. Erickson had multiple sclerosis for the past 37 years and had worked in telemarketing for Spokane area businesses.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Erickson II of Portland; his mother, Dorothy Erickson of Spokane; a brother, Larry Erickson of Snohomish, Wash.; and a sister, Debbie Riley of Spokane.

Harold Hughes Spokane
Visitation for Harold E. Hughes, 84, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Former owner of Hughes Electric, Mr. Hughes died Monday. He was a lifetime Spokane resident.
He operated Hughes Electric for 30 years and later entered the real estate business and started Hughes and Company Realtors. He retired in 1986.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lorraine; a son, Gary Hughes; five daughters, Cheryl Roberts, Janine Arneson, Pamela Arnold, Gayla Pierson and Debbie Pendleton; a brother, Donald Hughes of Longview, Wash.; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
