WSU Design Students Make Competition Finals

Shawnda Roden and Kevin Brake of Spokane, and Joel Port, Pullman, are members of two teams of students from Washington State University’s Spokane campus who have been chosen as finalists in an international design competition aimed at practicing professionals.

The student teams were chosen as finalists from a field of 268 entries from 32 states and 31 different countries. The other 14 teams of finalists are all professionals.

Matthew Wavada, Spokane, recently graduated with honors from Southeast Missouri State University. He graduated summa cum laude while completing a bachelor of science degree with a major in applied computer science. He is the son of Connie and James Wavada. His wife is Camille.

Private Nicholas Richardson has completed basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. Richardson is now stationed with the Army near Schweinfurt, Germany.

Richardson is the son of Loana Best, Cheney and Guy Richardson, Spokane. He is a 1999 graduate of Cheney High School.

Washington State University announced that the following area students have earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences:

Allen Anderson, Maria Gottlieb and Mattie Kivett, all of Spokane.

Gonzaga University students Brian Murray and Miranda Schell were named All Regional Attorneys, capturing third and eighth places respectively, at the undergraduate American Mock Trial Association Regional Qualifier at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

In the competition that included more than 150 students from 20 colleges and universities, Gonzaga students James Person, Thomas Howe and Dan Lloyd were named All Regional Witnesses, placing third, fifth and eighth respectively.
