Florence Walton Spokane
Funeral Mass for Florence M. Walton, 97, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walton, who died Sunday, was born in Marlin-Krupp, Wash.
She moved to Spokane in 1917. Mrs. Walton was a clerk for Pacific Northwest Bell and later for US West for more than 43 years. She retired in 1967.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and St. Aloysius Church.
Her husband, Ted, died in 1952.
Survivors include a daughter, Grace Walton of Spokane; two sons, James Walton of Mead and John Walton of Harrisburg, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Morning Star Boys Ranch or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Robert Wallevand Spokane
Visitation for Robert A. “Bob” Wallevand, 70, will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church. Service will follow at the church. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wallevand, who died Friday, was born in Vining, Minn.
He graduated from high school in Harlem, Mont.
Mr. Wallevand served in the Army National Guard for 16 years and on active duty at Fort Benning, Ga., in the late 1950s.
He was a 49-year Spokane resident and worked in sales for McPherson Furnace and Equipment Co. for 30 years. He later worked for Jensco, and retired in 1995.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Lorraine; two sons, Darrell and Richard Wallevand, and two daughters, Lynette Blocker and Carole Arndt, all of Spokane; and a brother, Kenneth Wallevand of Idaho Falls.
Marilyn Richter-Sanner-Fredekind Post Falls
Memorial service for Marilyn J. “Rick” Richter-Sanner-Fredekind, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.
Mrs. Fredekind, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.
She grew up in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and then attended Eastern Washington University.
She married Bob Sanner in 1948 and was a homemaker. They moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston area in the early 1950s. In 1961 they moved to Post Falls. Her husband died in 1970.
She married Martin Fredekind in 1972. He died in 1991.
She was a member of the Kootenai County Saddle Club and was active in traveling and motorcycle riding.
Survivors include nine children, Jeanne Rosenberger, Bill and Tom Sanner, Ted and Barney Fredekind, Denny Watrus, Irene McMinimy, Florence Mead and Myrn Sosbee; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grace McSloy Spokane
Visitation for Grace C. McSloy, 90, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.
Mr. McSloy, who was born in Wisconsin, died Monday.
She was an elementary school teacher and lived in Spokane for 58 years.
Her husband, Byron, died in 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Merna Kirstein of Spokane; a sister, Hazel Redra of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
Mildred (Johnson) Hamilton Colfax, Wash.
Service for Mildred (Johnson) Hamilton, 89, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will follow at Endicott (Wash.) Cemetery.
Born in Pullman, Mrs. Hamilton died Tuesday.
Her family moved to Montana, then to Elberton, Wash., near Colfax and to the Gleenwood area.
She graduated from Colfax High School and studied at Central Washington State Normal School in Ellensburg, from 1927 to 1929. Mrs. Hamilton taught in a one-room school house in Glenwood and then at the Thera School near Diamond, Wash., for two years before marrying Edward Hamilton in 1934.
She was a homemaker and a Diamond-area resident for more than 60 years.
Mrs. Hamilton moved to the Whitman Health and Rehab Center in Colfax in 1997. Her husband died in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Clarence Hamilton of Colfax; a daughter, Vivian Harder of Kahlotus, Wash.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

William `Ed’ Norris Spokane
Memorial service for William E. “Ed” Norris, 86, will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
A 48-year Spokane resident, Mr. Norris died Monday. He was born in Cincinnati, Iowa.
As a young man he moved to Rapid City, S.D., and operated a restaurant.
During the late 1940s he and his wife, Lucille, homesteaded in Alaska near Wasilla. During the 1950s they ran a boarding house in Grand Coulee, Wash., for the dam workers.
They later moved to Diamond Lake, Wash., where they operated a restaurant for one year. They then moved to Spokane where they owned and operated restaurants in the area including the L&E.
Mr. Norris was a member of the Elks Grange, where he also was Santa Claus.
His wife of 65 years died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Ed Norris of Spokane; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Clarine Smith Spokane
Memorial service for Clarine K. Smith, 75, will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Northeast Community Center. Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Grand Forks, N.D., Mrs. Smith died March 6.
She was a 52-year Spokane resident and worked as a waitress in the Spokane area.
Her husband preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Maddox of Bellevue, Wash., and Neal Maddox of SeaTac, Wash.
Gaile (Edwards) Zeltins Spokane
Service for Gaile (Edwards) Zeltins, 50, will be held in Wilmington, Del. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Zeltins died Friday. She was born in Baltimore.
She received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in special education from the University of Delaware.
She was a special education teacher in New Jersey and moved to Spokane 10 years ago from Philadelphia.
Mrs. Zeltins worked for a year as a special education teacher at Adams Elementary. She had been working as an agent for U.S. Mortgage.
She was a member of the St. Francis Society.
Her husband, Eriks, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Jacquline Lolli of Lansdowne, Pa.; her mother and stepfather, Patricia and George Feirer of Tuckahoe, N.J.; two brothers, Lawrence Edwards of Ventnor City, N.J., and Glenn Edwards of Dana Point, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Lachiewicz of Spokane and Brenda Tigani and Anne Wier, both of Greenville, Del.; and four grandchildren.
William DeCroff Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for William R. DeCroff, 68, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. DeCroff, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
He lived in Spokane and operated W.R. DeCroff Construction Co. for 35 years. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1972.
Mr. DeCroff was a member of the Spokane Board of Realtors, Coeur d’Alene Elks Lodge, Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge and El Katif Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Michael DeCroff of Pahrump, Nev.; a stepson, Johnny Neace of Wasilla, Alaska; two daughters, Tonya Thatcher of Cle Elum, Wash., and Tammy Vraney of Seattle; a stepdaughter, Debbie Raeon of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Ted DeCroff of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Millsap of Spokane; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Carrie (Myers) Koch Spokane
Memorial service for Carrie Ethyl (Myers) Koch, 80, will be at 11 a.m. today at Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 45-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Koch died Monday. She was born in Akron, Colo.
She was an attendant and counselor at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake for more than 15 years. She was known as “Cookie” there. She retired in 1979.
Mrs. Koch is survived by her children and stepchildren, Allen and Marian Zoesch, Donna Fishel, Kathleen Borchers, Diana Pollin, Bobbie Metlow and Linda Fithian, all of Spokane, Roger and George Zoesch of Portland, and Ronald Zoesch of Akron, Ohio; a brother, George Banks of Spokane; a sister, Betty Cameron of Boulder, Colo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edna Smith Clarkston, Wash.
Memorial service for Edna M. Smith, 87, will be at at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Pines Cemetery in Spokane. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, a retired cook, died Saturday.
Born in Genesee, Idaho, she attended schools in the Genesee and Troy areas. In 1930 she married Arnold Smith. They divorced in 1953.
Mrs. Smith worked as a cook for the Forest Service in Wallowa County, Ore., and also cooked at the hospital in Enterprise, Ore., and at the Genesee School. During the summers she cooked at Yellowstone Park and Alpha Chi Omega fraternity at Washington State University.
She had lived in Oregon and Spokane before settling in Lewiston in 1975.
In 1998 she moved to Clarkston, and had been active in arts and crafts projects.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Hombel of Clarkston; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
