Softball Registration Next Week

Open registration for Spokane Valley Girls Softball Association play takes place next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday registration will be at East Valley High School. Wednesday registration is at Centennial Middle School. Thursday registration is at Evergreen Junior High. Hours are 7 to 9 p.m. all three days.

Registration forms can also be obtained at Treasure Isles Video, Harvard and Wellesley in Otis Orchards, at Hollywood Video, Trent and Argonne, at Evergreen Pet, 14319 E. Sprague, and at Spokane Olympic Sports, 12505 E. Sprague.

The first meeting for returning and prospective coaches will be May 18.

The season begins June 15.

Officers for the upcoming year are Allen Johnson, president, Lauri Costello-Maclay, secretary, Katie Cargill, treasurer, Rick Cargill, sergeant-at-arms.

Board members are Jude Thomas and Carl Durr, in charge of umpires, and Rick Lloyd, director of fields.

Rapid Rabbit run Saturday

The 16th annual Rapid Rabbit Run will be this Saturday at East Valley High School.

The 5-mile portion of the run at 9 a.m. is a qualifying race for Bloomsday second-seed runners. A 3-mile fun run held in conjunction will begin at 10 a.m.

A pancake breakfast will be served by the East Valley boys cross country team from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Check-in for registered athletes is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the high school. For those still needing to register, late entry fee is $15.

Valley View breakfast

Valley View Ladies Golf Club kick-off breakfast will be March 29, with the first golf outing of the season planned for April 5. New members are welcome. For information call 926-2905.

Ball sports offered by YMCA

Registration is under way for Valley YMCA tee, coach pitch, kids pitch and pitching machine baseball and softball for boys and girls ages 4 through sixth grade.

Games will be played between April 22 and June 3. The cost is $58 or $33 for YMCA members.
