Technotools Improving On The Classics Isn’T Easy, But These Innovative Implements Get The Job Done

These aren’t the tools your father used to build the carport.

Oh, sure, those claw hammers, hacksaws and other timeless implements hanging in countless garages and basements have done the job for decades. But a new generation of tools that elicits ooohs and ahhhs from both hardcore handypersons and weekend do-it-yourselfers soon will arrive at a hardware store or home center near you.

The addition of digital displays, built-in voice recorders, memory storage and other innovative features make these tools for the 21st century more convenient to use than their predecessors. And your next project will probably take less time to finish, too.

There’s a stud finder that can differentiate between wood and wires. A tape measure that allows you to store and recall measurements. And if you’re still using a chuck key, well…it may be time to open your wallet and update the contents of your toolbox.
