New Tees Kind To Environment

Kathy Van Mullekom Daily Press

Environmentally conscious golfers will like using the Eco Golf biodegradable golf tees made from corn. They biodegrade within a year; a wood golf tee takes three years to break down. Tests say the corn golf tee lasts an average of 9.65 drives per tee, says Eco, compared to 4.21 drives per wood tee.

The tees were recently featured in Golf Digest (www.golfdigest.com), where Eco Golf’s Todd Baker says, “We’re into our fourth generation. Our first model was too brittle.

Another was softer but if the tee was too hard you couldn’t stick it in the ground. The latest is a combination of both.”
