Jack Clemson Smelterville

Service for Jack Clemson, 79, will be held at 1 p.m. at the Kellogg Masonic Temple.

Mr. Clemson, who was born in Trail, British Columbia, died Monday.

He moved to Kellogg in 1926 and graduated from high school there in 1938. He began working as a waterboy for the Bunker Hill Co. when he was 15, after his father died.

Mr. Clemson served with the Army in the European Theater during World War II and returned to the Silver Valley, where he had worked for the Bunker Hill Co., in various capacities. He married Catherine Cochrane Lein in 1952.

He later became a maintenance superintendent at the Zinc Plant and then the smelter, retiring in 1983.

Mr. Clemson was a member of the Bunker Hill 20-year Club, Elks Lodge and Wardner Masonic Lodge. He also was a mamber of the Kellogg AF and AM, and had served as worshipful master three times.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine; two sons, Alvin Clemson of Meridian, Idaho, and Mike Clemson of New York; a daughter, Jackie King of August, Ga.; three granddaughters; and six grandchildren.

Veronica Kimbrough Spokane

Funeral Mass for Veronica F. Kimbrough, 93, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kimbrough, who was born in Peola, Wash., died Wednesday.

She had been a Spokane resident for 58 years.

Mrs. Kimbrough worked as a bookkeeper for an auto supply company.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Her husband, Kenneth, died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Kimbrough Jr. of Spokane; a daughter, Shirley Buckenberger of Liberty Lake; two brothers, J.C. Stanfill of Las Vegas and Jimmie Stanfill of San Diego; two sisters, Elizabeth McTaggart of Hayden, Idaho, and Lorene Stanfill of San Diego; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

David Vincent Coeur d’Alene

A celebration of life for David L. Vincent, 57, will be held today at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Vincent, who was born in Lubbock, Texas, died Wednesday from cancer.

He grew up in Bay City, Mich., and joined the Naval Reserve in 1960 while attending high school. He enlisted for active duty after graduation.

In 1981 Mr. Vincent retired after 20 years of service with the Navy and settled in Coeur d’Alene that year.

He worked at Kootenai Medical Center as a maintenance engineer and was involved with the Explorer Scouts and Coeur d’Alene Fundamentalist Baptist Church.

In 1990 he became a firefighter with the Kootenai County Fire Protection District and also worked as a driver and EMT, and earned an instructor’s certificate.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lila; a son, David Vincent of Yerington, Nev.; three daughters, Kimberly Turner of Yerington, Tammy Dansereau of Hayden, Idaho, and Brandy Smith of Post Falls; his mother, Odessa Vincent; a brother, Donald Vincent; a sister, Sue Rork; and seven grandchildren.

Donna Meek Hauser Lake, Idaho

Memorial service for Donna Marie Meek, 68, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. A gathering will follow at the Hauser Lake Fire Station.

Mrs. Meek, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.

She graduated from North Central High School in Spokane and in 1957 married Ron Meek.

She and her husband settled in the Hauser Lake area 37 years ago. She worked as a key punch operator for General Instruments in Post Falls for 10 years.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Danny Meek, and a daughter, Diane Hylton, both of Post Falls; two stepchildren, Karen Phillips and Dennis Meek, both of Oldtown, Idaho; a brother, Dan Dolan of Spokane; a sister, Geraldine Hayes of Spokane; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dr. Harvey Frazier Spokane

Memorial service for Dr. Wm. Harvey Frazier, 83, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 71-year Spokane resident, Dr. Frazier died Monday.

Born in Sandpoint, he graduated from North Central High School in 1935. He received a bachelor’s degree from Whitman College and in graduated from Harvard University School of Medicine.

He was an intern at Harford (Conn.) Hospital and a resident in surgery at Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland. He also was a resident in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital and the Free Hospital for Women in Boston.

He was an associate clinical professor emeritus at the University of Washington and joined the Sacred Heart Hospital medical staff in 1947. He became its chief of obstetrical services in 1970.

Dr. Frazier served on the board of trustees at Whitworth College and was elected a lifetime member in 1982.

He was an ordained elder and member of First Presbyterian Church, and also was a member of the Spokane Rotary Club and the Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity at Whitman College.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Aimee; two sons, James Frazier of Spokane and Andrew Frazier of Castle Rock, Colo.; a daughter, Margaretta Hill of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sister Peter Claver Endowment Fund in care of Sacred Heart Medical Center, the Whitworth College Endowment Fund or to First Presbyterian Church.

Viola Staley Spokane

Visitation for Viola G. Staley, 84, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Born in Alga, Sweden, Mrs. Staley died Tuesday.

She was a 41-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.

Her husband of 59 years, Gainard, died in 1995.

Mrs. Staley is survived by a son, Chester Staley of Bremerton; and two grandchildren.
