Adams County Othello
The School Board will rerun its levy April 25 because several neighboring districts will run their failed levies again the same day. “If the levy fails again, it will give some employees a chance to seek other employment,” said Superintendent George Juarez.
Ferry County Republic
Folks on Trout Creek Road will have to live with potholes. Resident Dan Greene asked county commissioners to better maintain the road. Public Works Director Keith Muggoch said there’s no money to do more than patching, and that to maintain it to the optimum, crews would be working there every two weeks.
Grant County Quincy
The state Department of Health says its lengthy investigation has shown no apparent health risk to residents from the former Cenex fertilizer storage plant in Quincy. The state released its 92-page findings last week. Ground water contamination is still a concern needing study.
Lincoln County Harrington
With the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Sweet 16, folks here are cheering both the Zags and native son Ryan Floyd. They’re proud of his feats on the court as well as in the classroom. Floyd was recently named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team for the third straight year. Floyd is a special education major with a GPA of 3.22.
Pend Oreille County Usk
The annual Circle of Families Pow Wow on the Kalispel Reservation was a success. Nearly 600 people attended the event, which celebrates sobriety to strengthen native families. The event has been going on for nearly 13 years.
Spokane County Spokane
For raising $14,000 to aid orphans in Rwanda, Adam Thielen has been selected a Millennium Dreamers Ambassador and will be among 2,000 children from around the world to travel to Florida’s Walt Disney Resort May 8-10 in association with UNESCO.
Stevens County Colville
The city is looking over its signage codes - an issue that pops up every couple of years. Safety is one concern. Many say placement of signs, especially on sidewalks, blocks pedestrians’ and motorists’ view of traffic hazards. Also, a quick survey found 38 signs which lacked city permits. Many also feel temporary banners are an eyesore.
Whitman County Pullman
The League of Women Voters and the city of Pullman are co-sponsoring a public meeting on health care on the Palouse Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Pullman City Hall council chambers. Speakers will include hospital administrators, health care providers and volunteers in local health care activities. Speakers will offer information about health care service and facilities available to residents of the Palouse, including hospital services, in-home care, assisted living, adult and nursing home facilities.
IDAHO
Benewah County Plummer
Plummer/Worley Joint School District has narrowed its search for a new superintendent from 14 to four candidates. Parents and community members are invited to meet the candidates at a reception from 4:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the district boardroom.
Bonner County Sandpoint
The Bonner Soil and Water Conservation District has several projects in the works: bank stabilization on the Pack and Priest Rivers; creek and wetland restoration on Goose Creek near Priest Lake; Kootenai City stormwater management; a state forestry contest for junior and senior high school students; and an educational field day for fifth-graders. Boundary County Bonners Ferry
The Board of Commissioners is accepting bids of $10,800 or less from independent contractors for janitorial services in county facilities April 21 through Sept. 30. Sealed resumes and proposals must be received by April 10. For details, call (208) 267-7723.
Kootenai County Worley
The City Council will erect a memorial to Wid Parsons, a longtime resident, in the lobby of the new Senior Center building. Parsons, who died Feb. 16, volunteered much time to the city and community services. He also wrote Worley’s history.
Latah County Moscow
Residents were chosen during the recent caucus to represent Latah County in the state Democratic Convention in June. Moscow delegates for Bill Bradley are Laura Walker, Susan Roberts, Neil Palmer, Evelyn Palmer and Gilbert Wright. Moscow delegates for Al Gore are Pat Scott, Shirley Ringo, Carole Hughes, Don Scott, Betty Benson, John Ringo, Mike Gotch, Sue Hovey, Jo O’Donnell and Marcia Cooke.
Shoshone County Wallace
Felicia Holmquist, a Silver Hills eighth-grader, and Keith Chambers, a Mullan Junior High eighth-grader, will compete in the state Geography Bee on April 7.

Lincoln County Libby
Twenty Abilene Christian University students recently roamed the area performing acts of kindness for residents. The Highway 37 Church of Christ invited the students from Texas to stay for a week and help with raking yards, shoveling snow, picking up litter and visiting nursing home residents.
